Samsung TV UN46D6000 Format Unsupported Error

All-

I am having some very big issues with Serviio and my Samsung UN46D6000 TV. For some reason a ton of my DVD rips (MKV format using MakeMKV) will not play - I get the format unsupported error. These are all straight DVD copies and I am not quite sure why my TV won't play them through Serviio. The profile I am using is the Samsung C/D Series.

For testing purposes I copied a couple of the DVD rips to a USB flash drive and they played perfectly on the TV. Anyone got any ideas?

USB test is pointless as DLNA and USB work on completely different system and can not be compared.

please provide ffmpeg -i and mediainfo reports on the file that wont play.

Thansk for the info - I will take a look. I was only metioning the USB part to show the file format was something the TV could handle. Most of my video library won't play right now so I guess I'll just pick a file to supply the info you requested.

I went ahead and download the latest 32-bit ffmpeg build for Windows and copied it into the proper directory for Serviio. It looks like this might have fixed my issue. Several files I couldn't play before I can play now. Excellent! I will keep testing.

Oh, and I am now also able to play a couple of bluray rips I could never play on the TV before. This seems to be the fix I needed.

Thanks Cerberus!

yer that why i stated that cause if it plays on USB does not mean the same file is supported via DLNA and vise versa.

yes, there, overwrite the old one (but make a backup copy first).

As a follow-up, the filename I downloaded was ffmpeg-git-b6ff81d-win32-static, and I overwrote the current version of ffmpeg in the following directory:

Program Files\Serviio\Lib\

Serviio was working great up to somedays ago. Now I keep getting same error here. TV Model: UN40D6400.

Tried the workaround above and it works right after restarting Serviio service, but I receive the same error again after watching the first mkv file. It'll get back to work after restarting Serviio service again.

Anyone faced (and solved) this problem?

Regards

Problem Solved.

For some reason after setting up a static IP for my TV's wireless adapter Serviio would mess up IPs: instead of showing TV's IP (192.168.11.9) it was showing routers IP (192.168.11.1).

I just removed static IP and things were back to normal.

hello everyone,

got the same tv model, and I have the same problem with MKV files.

The only difference is that I'm on Mac Os x, so can't really try using the ffmpeg version that you gave the link for. I used SVN to obtain the latest version from ffmpeg, and compiled it myself. I tried then substituting as you suggest, but nothing has changed, and still can't reproduce them.

was the version you linked a specially modified one? I' using 26402

Thanks a lot for the support you're providing, and let me know if you need more info!

that still looks like an old FFmpeg, they don't use SVN for a long time now. The bundled one should be ok for you. Just make sure you're using the correct Profile.

the bundled one didn't work...

on the last log there was a problem where libsmtrp was not activated. I recompiled ffmpeg with it, and got the warning gone (attaching the new log), but it still does not work.

ONly thing I can think off, is reinstalling the app, using the ffmpeg bundled, and sending you the logs, see if that can help. :(
