Theres lots of posts here about MKV files, but mainly stuttering, audio problems etc.
I cant even get these files to play, they are 3d files, only have a few which came that way.
Try to play them to the tv and just comes up unsupported format and then skips to the next non MKV file.
Taking by the fact other people have more minor issues like cant fast forward, which is quite fustrating as ive had it once or twice myself, there must be a way to play them in the first place.
Any advice anyone can give me?
Thanks

For some reason the C series or higher profile transcodes MKV, I dont know why, D-Series supports in MKV:
Video: MPEG2 / MPEG4 / VC1
Audio: PCM / DTS / AC3 (TrueHD does not work but you should have an alternate track in this case)
Up to about 40mbit bit rates (Despite what the manual says.
This worked for me on my D6510:
Select the Samsung TV / player (C/D/E-series) profile for your device
Open the profiles .xml file and delete the section that transcode MKV for this profile
Restart Serviio
I have a couple of 3DMKVs taken from my BDs so will try them and report back.

I get stuttering on some MKV files that exceed 35Mbit, this happens with all UPNP servers I have tried so is definitely an issue with the limits of Samsungs decoding.
Using a rip of my Hugo 3D BD taken using MakeMKV it plays OK on my 6510 (Slight sound stutter at the very start) but looks like it does not detect or process the second 3D video stream, to be honest I dont think these TVs have enough processing power to manage full rate BD 3D streams anyway. Apparently the dual core ES series can process higher rate file although I have no idea if they add support for 3D mkv.
Do 2D MKVs play OK?

http://www.makemkv.comRip a DVD or Bluray of yours and try it. If it doesnt work it might be because you are on a different region of firmware; mine is European and sometime Samsung disable some features on North American products.

Try putting the mkv file on a USB drive/stick, and see if it will play.
If it plays the problem is with serviio
TBH, I can only get 3d mkv to play without stuttering via USB anyway.

No necessarily, the USB and DLNA players seem to be different and support different file types.
