Layout, Colours & Format

Hi,

I have tried looking extensively for an answer to my question but not found anything.
Everything is working fine with my setup; Samsung UE40D8000 and computer. I mainly use Serviio for listening to my music via a Yamaha AV Receiver. Converted all my CDs to FLAC.

This is probably a stupid thing to ask but..... is there any way to change the layout, colours and format of the display on the Samsung TV or is that set in stone by Samsung? I know how to use the library but to be honest would prefer the type of layout offered by my XBOX 360 for MP3s.

I would love to have the interface of the Serviio MediaBrowser, which is exactly the type of interface I would like on the TV but I understand that probably would not work through Samsung's Smart Hub Internet Browser.

Thanks for any help or confirmation of what I suspect to be the answer.

Cheers

John

Yes, the client (in your case the TV) is in control of the presentation.

Ok then thanks. Such a shame.

Would the Serviio MediaBrowser work with the Smart Hub browser? I am guessing it will not but hoping it will.

I assume not as it needs Flash to work.

Hi,

After having a look on the Samsung support site it states with regard to whether the browser has flash or not:
Yes, as of firmware 1004.1 the version of flash is 10.1.62.1

In this case could I get MediaBrowser working on the TV through its browser? This would hopefully mean a much better experience, visually.
Is there any way it can be tested as I doubt I would get a refund if it did not work.

Cheers

John

you have 15 days evaluation in your downloaded Serviio installation, so you can test it. I think the experience will be painful though, as you cannot use mouse. Also not sure if the browser supports the latest HTML and CSS. You might get some more metadata but to get to actually play a file will take you 5 minutes, with the file transcoded to flash when the TV can play it natively.

Thanks Petr for the info.

My main use is music after coverting my CD collection to the FLAC format.
It is a shame that the presentation is not in that format of MediaBrowser.
The Xbox360 with Serviio, yes it will play FLAC but not, for me anyway, in the Media Centre format. The presentation in Media Centre and Serviio's MediaBrowser is what I am trying to acheive.
