Serviio Stops Working After Computer Restart

I have been Using Serviio for about 2 months now and I love it. I was using it on my older gateway computer running Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) with an external 2 TB drive (storage for all my media capable of USB 3.0 but connected to a 2.0 port). Serviio worked great automatically adding the new media to the server, I could restart the PC and Serviio would start up automatically and everything worked beautifully. I then upgraded my computer a new machine running Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) using the same 2 TB drive (now connected to a USB 3.0 port) and I installed Serviio again and everything was working great. After I restarted my computer the Serviio console would run and the server would start but my Samsung C750 could no longer see the Serviio server. I uninstalled Serviio and re-installed it (re-mapping it to the external drive again) and everything worked properly. If I restart the computer I have the same issue, if I just put it to sleep no issue. Does anyone have any suggestions for why it worked properly on my old PC but not the new?

Hi,

Did anything come from this? I have the same problem with a PS3 trying to see the server.

Cheers
Mark

Hi,

I have a similar problem.

I have been using Serviio for about 2 months now and it has worked flawlessly. Two days ago however the allshare device stopped showing on my TV (UA46D6600) the serviio server is running and the console shows a connection to my TV (green dot next to TV ip address in status) it is not showing on the TV.

I know the TV is connected to my PC as it sees the PC and can access the Media Player DLNA service and I can ping the TV but this is so inferior when compared to serviio.

If there are any suggestions I would be very grateful.

Cheers,
Ian.

I am having the same problem. After rebooting my computer, I have to go to services and restart the serviio service in order for it to work. Is there anything I can do to avoid having to manually start the service every time I reboot the computer? Would delaying the start of the service or perhaps changing the login settings for the service help?

I am running serviio version 1.2.1 on a 64 bit Windows 7 Enterprise version computer.

You can delay the Serviio service from starting until other components are loaded by making the service dependant on the HTTP service.
To do this, from an elevated command prompt (run cmd.exe as an Administrator) type : sc config Serviio depend= HTTP

I tried it and it indicated "success". However, it did not resolve the problem.

So you still have to restart the Serviio Service after restarting your PC?
If so, you can set the service to "delayed startup". Start Services.msc, right click on the Serviio service and select properties. Set the startup type to "Automatic (Delayed Startup)" (while in that area, look at the dependencies tab and check that the dependency to HTTP set correctly). Press OK to exit. This will provide about the maximum delay you can without registry trickery.

I also have this problem, and have for every version since 1.1. The server starts without fail, however the server isn't visible by any DLNA device. Stop the Serviio service, restart it, and it is visible and works just fine. This happens every single time the computer is restarted, and setting the Serviio service to a delayed start had no impact - same thing happens.

Any ideas?

What version are you using now? What profile?
Set up detailed logging (see zips signature block above), restart your PC, turn on your TVs and see whether Serviio is detected. Post the log to the forum and lets have a look at it.

I updated yesterday from 1.3.0 to 1.3.1, and am using the Panasonic Viera E/S/ST/VT (2011) profile. I'll set up detailed logging and post results back.
