Hello,

I bought a 55W905A tv yesterday from Sony and found out it supports MKV by itself, it also seems to support subtitles in a way just not sure how to make it work 100%.
Anything I can give you guys to add support for the 2013 models?

Thank you,
Michiel

You can start with "Generic Profile" and check video not supported.

Yeah, I spoke to Sony support guys and they told me MKV is supported, as well as subtitles. Generic profile is a good one to start (it serves STR in some way as softsubs).

BTW, enjoy the W900, it looks awesome.

We need users with 2013 models to test profile :

- First, test with "Generic profile" to list format not supported.
- Then add and edit following profile:

  Code:
<Profile id="sony2013" name="Sony Bravia TV (2013)" extendsProfileId="1">
      <!-- 2013 models
         Codec list supported : http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/13MW802111/FR/codeclist.html#5

         - Music: LPCM, MP1L1 / MP1L2 / MP1L3 / MP2L1 / MP2L2 / MP2L3 / MP2.5L3 (*.mp3), AAC-LC / HE-AAC v1/v2 (*.mp4 / *.m4a / *.3gp / *.3g2), WMA9 (*.wma)
         - Video: MPEG1 / MPEG2PS / AVCHD , MP4, Xvid, Motion JPEG, VC1, MKV, 3gpp, MOV, WebM

Do you expect this to work with the new 2013 BDP players as well? If not, do you happen to have a new profile to test? I'm specifically interested in the BDP-S5100.

Thanks!

Don't know... Do you have this model in your hand ?
Could you provide supported formats of this device ? (see signature link)

Hi first I want to thank you for making such a great tool :).

I also brought a 55W905A with firmware vPKG3.208EUA. If the integrated media playern tries to play a not supported codec it crashes / get stuck on loading process.

I added your "Sony Bravia TV (2013)" test profile and it almost solved all problems, but on some MkV files I get same not loading/stuck problem:

When I change the profile to "bravia 2012" it plays, well. I think the problem is that MKV is a container which can have included different codecs. So on profile "bravia 2013" serviio thinks that the tv will be able to play this mkv and doesn't do anything. While using the bravia 2012 profil it thinks no mkv will be supportet and does something during stream process.

I have no idea what to change for bravia 2013 profle to make an exception for attached "MKV codec".

Is it possible to use serviio to show video files on TV which are not listed, like FLV?

Thank you so much.

"Sony Bravia 2012" profile will remux mkv/h264/AC3 to mpegts/h264/AC3 and "Sony Bravia 2013" deliver the file in native format (may be supported by 2013 model)...
So there is something wried with the mkv container.

Could you try to remux your file in a new mkv file with MKVToolnix tools and retry ?
You can also take care about this :
Using MKVMerge v5.1.0 I enabled "Disable header removal compression for audio and video tracks by default" in File / Options and then in the Muxing tab under Add Command Line Options I "Add" --clusters-in-meta-seek then mux my files. Videos that never worked properly before are now working.

Yes, could you list file format that does not list, or does not play on 2013 model?
Then post information about these files.

Thank you. I remuxed the mkv with MKVToolnix (only needed to add the input file and "Start muxing" right?) It created a new MKV, but same problem on playing :(. btw. no errors found while muxing...

it seems that:
- Select audio track on MKV, select chapter on MKV are not supported
- External subtitles are not supported over DLNA (only USB).

Could someone confirm ?

First, test with "Generic profile" to list format not supported.

How can I see with "Generic profile" which formats not supported? If I use Gerneric profile I didn't see any files in TV!?

How to test your 2 other questions with audiom chapters and subtitles? Just open a MKV and try to start subtitles and try to change audio language etc?

Strange.

First test - audio track / subtitle selection with MKV

1/ Open a MKV file with mutiple audio tracks and embedded subtitles (you can also disable transcoding in serviio console, to be sure that mkv will be delivered in native format).
- Multiple audio tracks : AAC5.1 / AAC 2.0: http://divxtrailers.divx.com/BigBuckBun ... PlusHD.mkv
- Subtitle track (SubRip) : http://tomtom2k5.free.fr/mkv/1080p/300. ... ple-hv.mkv
- Subtitle tracks (SSA) : http://tomtom2k5.free.fr/mkv/1080p/From ... sample.mkv
2/ With Sony Menu option, check if you can change the selected audio track.
3/ With Sony Menu option, check if you can enable subtitle track.

According to this : http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/13MW802111/ ... ist.html#5

Only MKV (and WebM *.webm) with internal subtitles are supported.
All other formats does not support SUB over DLNA (only USB).

Yes strange

1) it works to change the sound track with remote control function. But nobody speaks in this movie ^^.

2)subtile track 1 "300.2006.1080p.bluray.x264.sample-hv" it works to enable and disable the subtiles, ut while playing there is at the bottom a yellow warning triangles that this content is not supportet

3) same on SSA sample it works to enable and disable the subtiles and switch about 7 subtiltes, but while playing there is at the bottom a yellow warning triangles that this content is not supportet.

I had disabled the transcoding, but on the next tab I had enabled "enable subtitles"

OK, do you see audio logo change on Sony display (only two speakers appears for Stereo, Speakers with Dolby text for 5.1 tracks )?

Could you enable detailed logging and confirm that MKV was delivered in native format without any transcoding ?

Second test :

Could you try to play a file with external subtitle file ?

For example with this very good movie with speaks ^^ (after few minutes) http://www.sintel.org/wp-content/content/download.html

You can try with the MP4 Surround 5.1 format and external SRT file

Thanks for your help.

1) I tested with a other MKV I could switch the sound track. one was Stereo, one was DTS

I tried again with "your" files to switch the language in debug mode it worked (saw the symbols and written on TV audio 1 stereo):
  Code:
2013-06-21 23:28:41,053 DEBUG [VideoDeliveryEngine] Delivering file 'BigBuckBunny-DivXPlusHD-audio.mkv' in native format

  Code:
2013-06-21 23:34:12,932 DEBUG [VideoDeliveryEngine] Delivering file '300.2006.1080p.bluray.x264.sample-hv_sub1.mkv' in native format
(<-- this again with error shown on TV about not supportet content)

second test: not possible mp4 file is not shown in directory of TV (even I know it is already in index).

I tried a other file with external Subtitles, MKV it was shown in list, but not supportet by TV (without transcoding):

Do you see a pattern in those not supportet MKVs? To make them playable? (those normally only work on Bravia profile 2012)

Thank you.
