Playback issues on Synology and Sony Bravia

Hi, I am fairly new to Serviio and have no knowledge of codes.

I recently upgraded to 1.2.1 on my Synology DS212j. Subtitles have been enabled but the playback is extremely jerky (impossible at all to watch) - I am playing it through my Sony Bravia televisions. This is not down to my internet connection because when I try to play the same fie using the DS media server, they play perfectly fine. I am using Serviio because my Sony TVs do not show the subtitles when using the DS media server.

For certain of the files, I get the message "Temporarily cannot access the server. Please retry." Again, these files play absolutely fine through the DS media server.

I'd very much like to play my files properly through Serviio because the subtitles to me are very important. Log files attached. Grateful for any help on this. Thanks very much.

It sounds like your getting your videos transcoded and your synology has CPU isn't up to it. Most nas have a relatively weak CPU, great as a new, not really up to transcoding.

I too have this issue, but on a DS213j

It is capable of transcoding, however I think Serviio sometimes does other stuff in the background like search for artwork. Once this happens, then transcoding falters.

You can disable library refresh process on console. And only enable it when you add some new files.

Hi, out of curiosity - when the NAS is not doing other stuff, can the DS213j keep up with realtime video transcoding with burning in subtitles? Since it's an ARMv7 with FPU I was hoping it would have the power to do so (thinking about upgrading to the DS114 when it comes out, which will have the same CPU). If yes, can it manage transcoding an HD stream?
