Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

Please read FAQ: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1126&p=5340#p5344

Picard007 wrote:Is the 60hz problem (MKV stream over Network - LCD show 1080p/60hz instead of 24Hz) still there ?

I'll check on mine
Picard007 wrote:Did the S-370 show the embedded subtitles (stream Network / serviio)?

Read FAQ:
-Embedded Subtitles not supported in MPEG program streams (VOB files in other words). The player supports these from disc, but not via DLNA
but
- Embedded Subtitles and Multi Audio Tracks are supported from MKV and MPEG Transport Stream files over DLNA (European model)

See here for Serviio supported format: http://www.serviio.org/features

But, if you have a look on Sony BDP (EU) profile, viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1126&p=5343#p5341
Default, Serviio will transcode MKV to MPEG2 Transport Stream, but you will find that Serviio could streams MKV in native format, by removing some section on the profile:
<!--
remove all matroska transcoding matches if you stream over a wired connection and want mkv subtitle support and alt audio
tracks
-->

Replace the Section id="10" with this on the profiles.xml file, restart the serviio service

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

I have a Canadian Sony S370 running the latest firmware. I could not play videos with the US or EU profile, but adding the Canadian profile has resulted in flawless playback.

I will try to test more video types in the near future, but mp4, mov, avi, and mts files have all been fine. Playing/pausing definitely works, but I can't remember if I tried scanning forward and back. I will try that tonight.

If there are any file types I should specifically try I will do so.

Good, I suppose you used CA 0.4.2 Profile?

Could you try this updated CA 0.5 Profile? (add some new 0.5 profile AVC-DTS, and format support, flv, camecorder, etc)

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

I thought we only have EU/US profiles now. There will be just 1 profile in 0.5.1 which serves the files with both profile names (NTSC/PAL etc) but the same mime type and transcoding config.

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

I have copied this new profile into my config and restarted serviio. I will test it tonight and report back.

zip: Will the Canadian version work with the single US/EU profile in 0.5.1? My player did not work with either version when I tried them in 0.5 the other day. I Will be happy to test that in 0.5.1 when there is a beta.

The updated Canadian profile worked well with my usual videos. I am going to try to find some sample videos in different formats to test out as well.

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

The only differences between updated CA 0.5 profile and US 0.5 profile are:

CA
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/divx">MATROSKA</MediaFormatProfile>
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/divx">AVI</MediaFormatProfile>
USA
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/mpeg" name="MPEG_PS_NTSC">MATROSKA</MediaFormatProfile>
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/mpeg" name="MPEG_PS_NTSC">AVI</MediaFormatProfile>

1) Could you check that with updated CA profile, MKV and AVI are well displayed ?

2) Could you try to modified the updated CA with these two US lines and check that MKV and AVI are not displayed?

Illico: I have been playing AVI files without issue. I will try MKV tonight and make sure they play. Then I will take out those lines and try them again.

I am already pretty sure the AVI files won't play without those lines, because they weren't playing with the US profile. I will confirm this for you tonight.

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

Okay, I have confirmed with the updated Canadian profile I can play AVI and MKV files very well - they start playing immediately.

If I switch to the US profile, I can still play AVI and MKV files, but they take a long time to start, presumably because they are being encoded to a format the US player understands.

If I change my Canadian profile lines to the US lines as you specified (which I think is what you wanted me to do) it still plays the AVI files after encoding on-the-fly with the same delay to start. I could not test the MKV with this profile change, because it was not displayed in the file list.

All-in-all, the Canadian profile is best for me because there is no re-encoding of AVI and MKV files. I'm sure if I took the transcoding section out of the US profile the AVI and MKV files would fail to play. I can test that if it would be helpful.

OK, good

Could you check the logging file when you start theses files to confirm the encoding?

YES I confirm, that I only want you to change your Canadian profile with these two US lines I specified (this is the only differences between the two US and CA 0.5 version, except transcoding section).
Could you check the logging file at the point too?

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

Hi everyone,

I have a few questions on European profile:

1. When streaming files in mp4 container and h264 vCodec, they are demuxed into mpegts. Why does the profile limit the demuxing applied to h264 materials only? Can we delete vCodec="h264" in the <Matches container> or add divx, xvid to the <Matches container>?

2. In order for FF/Rewind to work in mp4 files, do we have to wait unit the whole file is demuxed, or they are supposed to work on the fly during demuxing? My experience on this functionality was a bit inconsistent. Sometimes FF/Rewind worked, sometimes not. Sometimes rebooting the Sony solved the FF/Rewind problem. I am a bit lost.

3. For mkv files with dts audio, the audio track is trancoded into 2ch ac3. Can serviio output multi-channel ac3 track instead of 2ch only? Can I specifiy the output ac3 bit rate?

4. What modifcations should be made to trancode multi-channel PCM audio in mkv files to multi-channel ac3?

Regards,

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

Hi,

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 and a Sony BDP-S370.

I have been trying in great detail to stream .mkv files to my device, with no success. I have posted on the PS3 Media Server forums (see here http://www.ps3mediaserver.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6930&start=270#p46841 ) as well, and thought I'd give Serviio a try.

Currently in Serviio I am able to get the folder to show up, and it contains an HD mkv file (ffmpeg output below). Additionally, I have applied the changes for US devices to the profiles.xml and have applied that profile to the BDP-S370 device in the serviio console.

Unfortunately the player returns an error that my Folder contains no playable media (Video) file.

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

The file is not added to the library because your FFmpeg is too new. 0.5.1 will fix this issue.

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

Hey Folks, n00b could really use some guidance here. I'm running 0.5.1 (I have tried 4.2, 5.0 and some betas previously) with an S370 (US) with physical ethernet cable. .

I updated my profile with the one below, but I cannot run any video files. I have not ever been able to run them with any version, getting the errors below:
MKV - The file is corrupted or unsupported
AVI - There is no playable file.

I downloaded some of the sample MKVs listed in this and other threads with no success. I tried commenting out lines in the XML file, but apparently did something wrong because I couldn't get Seviio to load again.

I ran some MKVs through MKVmerge but no joy.

Also tried different re-encodes with multiple Handbrake profiles, also no help.

Any ideas??? Thanks!!!!

Awesome find! I will downgrade and test. Should I use any specific versions of x264, libfaac, liblame, etc, when I recompile ffmpeg?

EDIT: It seems libx264 doesn't play nice with ffmpeg v0.5.1. I'm going to compile without it for testing.

Thanks!
