At least one output file must be specified

Im guessing the at least one output file must be specified is the key... but I dont understand what that means, or what I can do to make it work.

The region is US, and I am using the profile listed for the US version.

EDIT!
The US version of the profile has nothing listed as mkv for converting. And Im SURE the manual for the player said that mkv cant be played over dlna

EDIT gain,
Sorry, didnt realize a question you asked. By not working, I mean its not detecting the file

Sure patters!! No problem!! Don't forget that we shared some comments through a private part of this Forum, so I just shared with other guys my comments.

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

@Bluepriest
That could be a weird file - I haven't tried any that have chapter marks. Have you got others you can try?

The web info and possibly the manual for the player in the US do state that it won't work over DLNA. This is kind of true, but we get around this by using the device profile to fake the mime type and the DLNA resource type for MKV files.

Don't worry about the "at least one output must be specified" line. When you run FFMPEG -i you're saying use this file as an input, but you're not declaring an output so that's to be expected.

If you want to force all MKV files to be remuxed to M2TS (not processor heavy at all), find this in the Sony BDP profile:
  Code:
      <Transcoding>
         <!-- remux MP4 container files to allow seeking (AVC_TS_MP_HD_AC3_ISO or AVC_TS_MP_SD_AC3_ISO) -->
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="ac3">
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="h264" />
         </Video>

and change it to:
  Code:
      <Transcoding>
         <!-- remux MP4 container files to allow seeking (AVC_TS_MP_HD_AC3_ISO or AVC_TS_MP_SD_AC3_ISO) -->
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="ac3">
            <Matches container="mp4" vCodec="h264" />
            <Matches container="matroska" vCodec="h264" />
         </Video>

I downloaded the matrix trailer in mkv format. Cant play that. This is WITHOUT the code to transcode mkv files added in since you said it shouldnt be needed. Im going to try WITH the code next though.

http://samples.ffmpeg.org/Matroska/matrix/

by doesnt work, I mean it doesnt show up in serviio.

With the added mkv it doest work either.... mkv files are the only ones Im having trouble with though

NOTES
1. My Blu-Ray is an US Model.

2. I have Serviio 0.5.4b (BETA) installed. The last public version, 0.4.2, could not support some "MediaFormatProfile" lines. So you have to check the Log file to locate the errors and remove them from your profile. The log file is located here = C:\Program Files\Serviio\log - It is a easy process :!: So, don't worry about, Patience!

3. I suggest you to use NotePad++ to edit the profile file which is based on XML format.

Hi BluePriest,

As I promised you, I tested the files that you posted. Here my comments:

- I could play only this file Matrix.Reloaded.Trailer-640x346-XviD-1.0beta2-HE_AAC_subtitled.mkv
- The other one didn't appear in the tree.
- The subtitles are not supported. I couldn't enabled them.

I think that you issue could be resolved with the coming version, 0.5. It works for me. However, I don't sure when will release it.

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

Just wanted to toss out a huge KUDOS! to all the work on this thread and the development of serviio. My Sony X57 (same as the S series but it just comes with a HDMI cable) DLNA was not working with anything windows based dlna consistently, even after I determined I had to recode my library to make it work with the few formats Sony allows. I hated the idea of re-ripping every MKV into another format not worth my time ($135 spent on the player=1 hour of real work for me). I was 99% sure I was returning the player (not that it was bad, just I hate purchasing a product advertised a certain way and then one discovers the ad was a bit missleading and the support from Sony is extreemly lacking). After trying a variety of other programs with transcoding I gave this a try as a truely last resort (I tend to like mature- usually older and widely used- products).

It was sooo easy install, easy set up, almost too easy. Sony see's it, picts- check, music-check, video.... However it wouldn't play my MKV files (but that was nothing new of the other services I tried either- some would play some files, but not other etc).... then I tried the US profile as listed on this thread and received a "Plasma screen of beauty." :shock:

Seriously I have spent hours attempting to get the Sony to even see another DLNA device (learned quickly the difference between Upnp with DNLA is not the same for all media servers), much less getting the Sony to actually find a file with playable format. "No file with playable format available" was like a bad nightmare you just can't get rid of. The profiles are amazing- no need to attempt to set it up on your own, copy paste baby. Hours saved on my end.

The new US profile listed here did the trick on my test laptop with Business VISTA, but not the XP version (99% sure it was a firewall issue with XP as the Sony didn't even see the service, but it's my work one so no admin of the firewall allowed). Yah, copy code, paste it, reboot service= THANKS!

I look forward to using the linux build on my main next week for my main streaming service.

Oh, I am using the .4.2 build.

Keep up the great work!

Bother, I knew writing a post full of great news would bite me... apparently not all the MVK files play.... tried a fresh rip too, rips plays on VCL, but not on the sony. I see if I can re-create the programs/process I used, as I know at one point I had avi files which i converted over to divx then to mvk.

Well.. sometimes you couldn't get a good transcoding process with some files. Usually it is due to the codecs. You can review the codecs of your video files with MediaInfo (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en). There are more tools in the web, but it works excellent for me.

Will subtitles ever work with m2ts transcoding of matroska files or is it a technical limitation somewhere?

I have tried external subtitles but the player won't read those unless the matroska transcoding is disabled. The US profile plays files a lot better on Serviio 0.5 but I need subtitles. :(
This is with the Canadian version.

FFmpeg does not support encoding subs into the MKV video container so no it wont work :) maybe once FFmpeg adds this Zip can add it too

Re: [Profile] Sony BluRay Players (BDP-S370)

I've looked into it, and the player cannot play subs in m2ts, only mkv (which stream like crap over wifi). So basically, I think we'll just have to stick to m2ts remuxing for mkv (unless you're on a wired connection then you can comment out the matroska transcode sections in the profile, as per my comments in the file).

I've also submitted a ticket with a suggestion about how to remove the need for region-specific device profiles (particularly as the Sony BDP uses the same ID string for all regions) - so hopefully that'll keep things simple for new users.
