Trouble with BDP-S570

I was successfully using Serviio 1.2.1 to serve to my BDP-S570 with transcoding off. I upgraded to 1.3. Anything served to this player now stutters horribly. In the past, I have had this issue and fixed it by uninstall/reinstall of Serviio, or a previous version. This time, that does not work. I went all the way back to V1.0.1 with no success. My Samsung player works fine, it's just the Sony.

I am running Windows 8 on Core I7. My players are connected via Ethernet; no wifi. There is a Linksys network switch between my computer and the player, but it's always been there.

I removed Serviio and turned on Windows streaming. This works with both the Sony and the Samsung. However, I much prefer Serviio for a variety of reasons. If it turn transcoding on, Serviio DOES work with the Sony, but my computer gets pretty busy, in particular hard drive accesses. I would prefer to not transcode. All of my video files are H.264 MP4 containers. I have successfully played the MP4 files via USB on the Sony player.

I have searched the forum, but I did not find much on this situation.

I'm wondering if there is something that is NOT included with Serviio (i.e. a dll or something) that is causing this, but I have no idea where to look.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is this a new (last few days) install of 1.3? Has the library re-build finished (although a once-off hit, it was an intensive process in 1.3 that has been improved dramatically in 1.3.1)?

Not sure you mean about new install. If you read the initial post, you can see that I've tried various versions.

On the library; yes it finished. For testing, I used on of my smaller folders, and monitor it's progress until it's done before I try Serviio.

What I'm really trying to learn is whether Serviio is using any software that is not supplied with its install. My problem seems to transcend versions, and it was not always there.

Yes, Java. Try uninstalling Java, check all is removed using the Java removal tool (from Java web site - google it) and then install latest version.

OK, I'll give that a try.

OK, I first had to install 32 bit Java to get the removal tool to run (the win8 desktop browser is "32 bit"). I did that and ran it and it removed Version 7, Update 5. I then removed all Java from Control Panel > Programs. Then I reinstalled both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Version 7, Update 25. I then reinstalled Serviio and waited for library scan.

This did not help; still the same problem. I notice that when I have transcoding off, the S570 says that my MP4 files are "MPEG"; with transcoding on they are "M2TS". When I have transcoding off, the audio display at the top right looks strange and never really stabilizes. With transcoding on, it shows "AAC 2 channel" or something similar. Also, with transcoding off, it takes a VERY long time for the video to start to play; when it's on, it's quick.

In any case, I think it's time to give up on this; I'll just transcode or use windows (probably the former). Thanks for all the help attempts.
