Just upgraded to 1.3.1 hoping it will fix this problem. Sony BDP-S470 will not show any AVI files in folder. It said "There is no playable file". I have a Sharp Aquos 80" LCD TV which works fine with AVI. Unfortunately the Sharp cannot play any MKV files. I get the same message with the sharp: "There is no playable file" on all MKV types.

This was a problem with the previous version as well. I like to get the Sony to work with AVI files. What can I do?

What is the profile selected on serviio console ?

Appears to be correct profile:

Sony BDP-Sx70/SMP-N100 (2010)

OK, and do you try with "Sony BDP-Sx70/SMP-N100 (2010) - US" ?

That fixed problem! Now all formats work fine.
Question is why did the other one get selected? I depend on the software to detect the correct one, but I guess in this case it didn't.

Serviio can't distinguish EU vs US Sony BDP model, then EU profile is used by default.
But EU profile delivers AVI files in native format, and there is sometime problems with fourcc element that Sony device does not support (DX50,XVID,etc).
With the US profile, all avi will be transcoded so that solved your problem.
