Sony HBD-T79 no content available on network drives

I have been scouring the Internet for a resolution for this issue, but no one anywhere seems to know what the fix is or at least doesn't seem to ever say if what others suggested worked.
I am running a HD on FreeNAS to store all my .mp4 and .mkv files and I have connected it to Serviio by typing the path into the Add Path tab.
I am trying to stream the content to my Sony HBD-T79 BluRay player.
The only content that appears in the Serviio folder on the Sony is content on the local hard drives.
All folders on the FreeNAS networked folders, when accessed on the BluRay player say something like No Content Available.
I've done all I can think of. Followed every forum I could find but nothing helped.
Getting frustrated and I'm hoping there is someone out there who has discovered the secret.
Or perhaps there is another streaming client that would work with my setup?

When you use a remote HDD with serviio, I suggest to disable automatic library refresh on serviio console. If your NAs is power-off, the library will be cleaned/cleared.
So first time and when new files has been added, manually force a library refresh.
What is the profile used on serviio console ?

I am using the local admin account I believe. I didn't set anything up specifically for Serviio.
I even made all the login info for my other components (chiefly the FreeNAS GUI) like others had suggested.
I tried turning off auto update and still no luck. . .

Also, I am having the same problem when connecting to the Serviio Media Browser.
Open a network folder and it says No Content Available.
Open a local folder and the content is there.
I am working with the two same files just copied in the different locations so I know they are working .mp4 and .m4v files.

This is almost certainly an access rights issue - ensure that the Serviio service has full access to the folders, subfolders and files have for the shared folder on your NAS device.
Note that the Serviio Service does not use your user credentials (normally) to log one - therefore just because you (a user) can see files on your NAS, does not mean Serviio (effectively a different user) can also see these files. See the
FAQ here:
http://www.serviio.org/component/conten ... e?id=21#q5. You can go down two paths, either:
- Ensure that the shared folder on the NAS allows access to Serviio user (if Serviio is running on Windows this is normally the SYSTEM user) - this is the better approach (if you want to confirm it is an access rights issue, you can grant access to the "Everyone" user - this allows all local network users, including Serviio, access to files) ; or
- Change the credentials for the Serviio Service to a "regular" user - eg use your credentials if you have administrator access. In Windows you do this in the Services.msc as described in the FAQ.

The remote path must be entered as a UNC path in the Serviio Console (e.g. \\server\folder)), mapped drive letters will not work since the user running the Serviio service is not aware of your mapped drives
That was something I wasn't doing. . . I was using drive letters
But it still didnt help.
I believe that the user login has the right permissions for run as service but I'm not sure about serviio and the nas. How can I be sure?
Should I be running on a local admin account or a user with admin privileges?
Or just a regular user?

What operating system is on the PC that you are running Serviio on?

Firstly, I should have asked earlier - I presume you are looking at the Folders category in the Serviio menu and not seeing any content there when looking at a folder on your NAS (ie. you are not looking at the "Movies" or "Series" categories in the menu - they populate data differently).
If this is the case (ie. you are not seeing any content under Folders, NAS folder) then it suggests a security issue. Have a read of my post here :
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=12138&p=75968#p76009. This is talking about a PVR but the same principle applies - try allowing access for the
SYSTEM user, or if that doesn't work for the
Everyone user.

That may be the issue I am having. That post was very helpful, but I can't add permissions.
I am logged in as the admin, and the everyone profile is there, but no SYSTEM. When I try to edit permissions, I get an access denied error...
I've tried editing the permissions on the mapped network drive as well as the individual folders that reside within.

Oddly enough, the sub folders seem to have the permissions (not SYSTEM) that the main mapped drive says it does not.
When I edit the permissions of the folders, they have all or most of the boxes unchecked. But this screenshot shows that they appear to have proper permissions.

Hmm - the Everyone user normally does it as it allows access to ... well everyone. I wonder if the security tokens aren't propagating properly - they should be inherited down to all subfolders and files.
Maybe time to try the second method - change the credentials of the Serviio Service to match that of the NAS. I came across this (for another media server, Mezzmo) which is a great description of how to do this - change Mezzmo for Serviio everywhere it appears:
http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.ph ... me-network. Its a two stage process, add credentials of the NAS to the Windows vault and then apply those credentials to the Serviio service. It appears that you only do stage 2 if stage 1 alone doesn't work - can you please test between stages and advise.

Select "This account" and enter the user name and password that provides access to your account (If it is a LIVE account you will need to enter the email address you use to logon). This will allow the Mezzmo server Windows service to access files and folders using your stored credentials
When i try to acomplish this second step, it wants my local user account and wont let me use the credetials i created.

I believe the credentials you use for step 1 need to be an existing users credentials ie. they should already exist on your PC. Probably easiest just to use your existing windows user name and credentials.

That doesn't seem to be working either. . .
I am using my user account (not the admin account).
For the credential manager, I may be. Doing something wrong?
I'm not sure what the "Internet or network address" is supposed to look like.
Is it IP address or network pc username or something else?

Exhausting our options: try - remove the data from the credentials manager and simply do step 2 ie. set the Serviio service to login as a local user (you).

Do you try a clean re-install of serviio ?
