[SOLVED] Update 2013 profile and ext subtitle problem

Hello, can you please tell me how to add the new Sony Bravia 2013 profile into the existing profiles? I tried to paste the code into the profiles xml file but then Serviio did not start.
Also, is it a restriction from Sony that is not possible to play external subtitles without transcoding or it is a restriction of Serviio? How can be avoided transcoding for external subtitles?
My TV is Sony Bravia 42W650.

First, read this page to understand how "profiles" works : http://www.serviio.org/index.php?option ... icle&id=16

Then, copy the 2013 profile section from here, then past the section just before the latest "</Profiles>" element.
This profile is compatible with 1.3.1 serviio version.

According to this specification, external subtitles are not supported by Sony 2013 device over DLNA (only USB).
So the only solution to have external subtitles is to enable transcoding with serviio, (or use USB)

Or merge the subtitles and the film as separate tracks in a single MKV prior to placing them in the serviio library. I preferred this method because the titles are still soft, and you can decide from the TV remote to enable/disable/choose a different set of subtitles. And of course, it saves the usual problems of transcoding (CPU load etc.)

Yes, embedded subtitles are supported with MKV container for 2013 models.
