AVI files show "There is no playable file". All others work

I don't know exactly when it stopped recognizing AVI files. It could be after the update to 1.3.1 but not sure. It used to work fine. I have a Sony BDP-S370 and Serviio profile shows:

+------------+-----------------+-----------------------------------------+---------------------------------------------+
UNKNOWN | 192.168.1.11 | Sony BDP-Sx70/SMP-N100 (2010) | Sony BDP-Sx70/SMP-N100 (2010) - US |
+------------+-----------------+-----------------------------------------+---------------------------------------------+

I also have the Sharp Aquos 80" TV which shows in the profile, and the AVI files work on the Sharp. Due to the poor way Sharp handles the menu system, I always used the Sony to watch movies.

+------------+-----------------+---------------+----------------+
UNKNOWN |192.168.1.14 |Sharp Aquos |Sharp Aquos |
+------------+-----------------+---------------+----------------+

What happened?

I have this issue too. when the tv recognises the file as an avi [with the avi icon on display] then I get the "No playback available" message

AVI is just a container (think bucket) the audio and video can use different codecs.

The one your using have a incompatible codec or compiled using a tool/app that makes bad AVIs. I've had this before and posted about it. The best option is to re-encode the avi to get it to play on your Sony device.

You can try this tools : viewtopic.php?f=17&t=12136
In the "remux" tab, use "Remux to the same container" action.
