Serviio

Guys,

I'm struggling to find a format to rip my 3D BR discs to for streaming via Serviio to my Sony KDL42W829 TV.

I am currently using DVDFAB to rip the discs, but I have tried 3D MP4 and MKV but so far no luck getting either to work correctly.

Has anyone done it successfully yet? It's possible I have just missed some settings or something, but does anyone have a successful set-up for this?

Having had a look around the forum, I see it might help if I supply the format support list for the TV...

Could you provide information about your rip result (ffmpeg -i and MediaINfo tool result) ? see signature

I've tried a few different rips, and none have worked on the Sony, although some have worked on the Panasonic (2011 GT30). When they don't work though, I have just deleted them, so I can't get them scanned. I will do for all new attempts though.

You've got a Sony 2014, I can't imagine how 3d files play has changed. I play a file be ir mp4, mkv...It plays in 2d either side by side or above and below. On the tv remote I go into options, select the 3d menu, enable and tell the tv if it's e.g side by side. It then displays a 3d image.

Are you even getting to the point if a dual image? If not then the problem is your rips rather than serviio or the tv. Perhaps find some sample sbs files online to test then read up on how to rip 3d.

Yeah, I can get illegally downloaded rips to play no problem (which are promptly erased as I have no want for pirated material when I buy my own, downloaded only for testing purposes), so the issue is with the rips I'm producing. They are SBS files, they all work on my PC through both VLC and WMP. But only some of them will play on my W829 and GT30, usually giving an unsupported file message. I did get one rip to play on both though, so I might have actually cracked it. Only problem I have now is that it is one of 3 different mkv's that I currently have ripped, and I have clean forgotten what settings I used in dvdfab9 now (I have just had a baby girl, well my wife has, in between ripping the movie and testing the files). And also, dvdfab crashed halfway through the encode, so it is only half the movie anyway.

Back to the drawing boeard.

I have been trying to read up on how to rip 3d, but there doesn't really seem to be a definitive answer out there. Been trying makemkv, but it rips the 3d the way I would like it, but not compatible with any player yet.
