Is it possible to "Point" Serviio at my DVD drive so that when it is playing a movie, Serviio could stream that to my Sony TV?

I don't think so. I believe the copy protection function of the disc will only feed the video to the local system. I tried streaming once just as a shared drive and mapped it to another computer. I remember it didn't work, but can't remember if it was the video or audio (or both) that wouldn't play.

Now if you had ripped the disc to remove its copy protection, then it might. However, if you do that you may as well just store the ripped file on the computer and stream the file. That's all I've done, rip my DVD and Blu-ray movies to my server and let Serviio stream. All you need is hard drive space!

Thanks for that.
I've tried in my own clumsy way to point Serviio at my "G:" drive, in the hope that whilst a DVD is playing, Serviio would be able to stream it to my TV.
Needless to say, I wasn't surprised when this venture crashed and burned!

Edit:
Just a thank you to atc98092 for recommending "MakeMKV", even a newbie like me can use it "Magic"!
I'll try to master Filebot another day...my brain hurts!

Ah, FileBot is easy  . As long as the basic file name is somewhere close to correct name, it will either find the correct name or provide a list of titles for you to choose from.

FileBot does a whole lot more, but I haven't even figured out how to use much of it! :D
