Bravia W Series playback hangs after about 1 minute

I'd like to dig deeper into an issue that intermittendly accompanied me through various versions of Serviio, two Bravias and two versions of Windows Server:
A video starts to play and hangs after about one minute. Playback resumes after pressing pause/start, and likely, after another minute, hangs again. Possible fix for the particular video: Exit video and choose again from the list. Playback is resumed ok and carries on, passing the magic 1 minute barrier. Later, press pause to go and fetch a drink, press play and after about one minute, the video hangs and the whole game starts over again.
The Bravia has a wired connection to Server 2008 running Serviio. The video is mkv/avc/ac3 and IMHO played natively. The temp drive has been changed from SSD to HDD without any change.
Any suggestions where to poke next highly appreciated.
