AVI Files Not Being Added to Library

Hi.
I installed Serviio a few days ago and I am very impressed.
I have it linked up to my Sony Bravia KDLEX503 TV and I am getting everything streaming well.
However, I dont seem to be getting AVI files added into my Serviio library.
Should this be happening automaticaly (I am using version 0.5.2).
I have searched the logs created since I installed the server and, whilst I can see all other file types being added, I cant see any .AVIs in the log. And obviously I cant see them on my TV either...
The AVI files are on a separate hard disk attached to my laptop.
On the library tab, I have all of the boxes ticked (VIDEO, AUDIO, IMAGES, Metadata and SCAN FOR UPDATES) against the folder which holds the AVI files.
I have Windows Media Audio/Video files in the same folder and these have been picked up OK.
Some of the AVI files are quite large, but some are small and Iam not getting any of them picked up.
I have tried a few things, including turning off "Keep Library automatically updated" and doing a "FORCE REFRESH", leaving to run overnight, but no luck with AVIs....
Is there a manual "tweak" I need to make to make this happen?
Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance,
Ian

Thanks.
I cant see how this could be the issue.
Other file types (WMV) are being picked up from the same folder as the one containing the AVIs (?)

You are right..
Could you provide "ffmpeg -i" result of your avi files ?

Sorry - I have no idea how I would get this information -
ffmpeg -i
for my AVI files.
Can you guide me?
Sorry for being an idiot but this is all very new to me!

I get the permissions denied message for folders from which files have been successfully added to the library (photos & audio), so I am not sure if this is the problem.

sorry - I have used the command on a specific video .avi file now and got some more information.
Also, when I run the AV Media Controller, I cant see the AVI files listed so it looks like they are not being picked up.

The "dvvideo"format is probably not supported by Serviio.
Zip could you confirm?

Yes. There is an open ticket:

Thanks everybody.
So I am not going "nuts"...(!)
Is the workaround for this to capture the output from my DV tapes to another format?
eg WMV?
Is this likely to be "fixed" in a future release?
Cheers,
Ian

You could transcode it manually for now (either using FFmpeg or other tool, google is your friend)
