Serviio

Hi all, I bought a Sony KDL-40R550C in 2016 but it's never really worked well with Serviio. Recently, with a bit more time, I have tried every profile for Sony but with limited success. The most recent (?) version "sony Bravia 2013/2014" doesn't even see mkv files. The 2011 version sees all the files but doesn't remember where you were in a film.

I've tried them all with varying degrees of success but don't really understand where I'm going wrong. Is there a solution?

Just as an experiment, have you tried any other TV profiles, Panasonic, Roku, Samsung, Toshiba? That might help narrow down where the issue lies. I don't know if the Roku profiles will work, as any files that need to be transcoded use the HLS format, and I don't know if Sony supports that.

If a file is transcoded, then you won't have the ability to resume where you left off. So it's likely that profile might be transcoding all your files. If your TV does support HLS transcoding, then resume will work even on transcoded files. It's the only format that allows trick play (FF, rewind and resume).
