HD MKV and BDP-BX37 Issues

Hi,

I'm new to DLNA and to Serviio. I have a few MKV files that are HD and they won't play on my Sony BDP-BX37. AVI files are transcoded or remuxed (not sure) just fine, just these files won't play. The BluRay player lists the files, but when selected says that they are corrupted or unplayable.

The specs:

Thanks!

file looks fine to me but i suspect it has header compression and that why they are not working, do a quick search of these forum there are a few posts on how to fix this.

edit - corrected by bad typos :(

Thanks, I'll do some searching on that.

Ok, I used mkvtoolnix (linux) to remux with no compression. I still get the same error about the file being corrupted or non playable. Do you know of any other tools or ideas?

not sure about the version of MkvMerge that was used. You might do some search on that as well.

I've done some research and experimentation and I think its the codec thats the issue. I reencoded the file (same resolution) with avidemux as xvid in an avi and it plays just fine. Now, how do I go about editing the profile to transcode the file to say xvid in a different container. I've been trying to get it work, but everything I try just ends up crashing Serviio.

Thanks!

Serviio only support two target Video Codec:
targetVCodec - name of video codec to transcode into or omit this attribute to keep the video stream as it is;
possible values: mpeg2video (MPEG2), wmv2 (WMV9)

Are you sure this is the AVC codec used in your mkv source file the problem?
Try with TsMuxer tools to remux the video and audio codec into a different container like *.ts (transport stream)

Ok, I remuxed it with tsmuxer into mpeg-ts (.ts) and it did just fine. What I can't figure out is the profile for the Sony BDPlayer seems to already be trying to remux it, and it says corrupt or unsupported. Maybe I'm reading the config file wrong.

You could also try with latest ffmpeg release build (replace the one in serviio lib folder)

I'm running on a linux system, so I'll check to see if there are any updates available to me.
