Hi
I am a newbie so please be kind all this is a bit mumbo jumbo.
I have a Sony KDL-40HX700
the firmware is PKG4.105GAL-0108
I installed Serviio and can play images and audio but cant see the video on the tv as in they dont show the file in the menu.
Did i ned to install any codecs? the profile is SOny Bravia
The original file is .avi and I coverted it to .mp4
What format are compatiable and can I change the original format into the compatiable format using handbrake?
Also is it possible to include subtitles in the video file??
Thanks
Sunny

No

See my signatures links and please provide "ffmpeg -i" result of your original avi file and mp4 file.
navinder.saini wrote:What format are compatibable and can I change the original format into the compatible format using handbrake?
The best native format for Sony Bravia TV is known as BDAV : MPEGTS container with AVC/h264 video codec and AC3 audio codec.
But when transcoding is used with serviio, the video codec must be MPEG2

No, you have to use some tools than could burn the subtitles into the video...

This is not a "ffmpeg -i" result but a MediaInfo output.

Google is your friend...
Do you really read the Sony Bravia
FAQ
??
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2396- SRT subtitle files not supported (must be "burned" into video stream, need to transcode/remux it using virtualdub/avidemux

What is your OS?
What is your ffmpeg version?
Could you try:
- Code:
C:\Serviio\lib\ffmpeg.exe
-i "/Users/Sunny/Movies/Films/Mine Vaganti 2010.avi"
-vn -an -sn -f mpegts "/Users/Sunny/Movies/Films/Mine Vaganti 2010.ts" -y -threads 2 -copyts
-vcodec mpeg2video -b 17000k -maxrate 17000k -bufsize 5097k -r 24000/1001 -g 15 -map 0:0 -newvideo
-acodec copy -map 0:1 -newaudio
