Serviio not seeing Sony TV

Hi

I am a new user. Just tried 0.6.0.1 but have been having this problem on 0.5.2.

I installed Serviio, it starts with no errors but it cannot see my TV profile. TV is connected and I can view internet content. I am able to ping the TV (also tried when TV is off to make sure it times out) from my PC and that seems fine.

HW setup is desktop PC hardwired into a netgear wifi router. TV has a Sony Wifi USB dongle. PC IP address is 192.168.1.2, router is 192.168.1.1 and the TV is 192.168.1.20 (fixed). I have bound the PC IP address in serviio.

TV is a KDL 40EX 503EU.

I have switched off the firewall and stopped and restarted the serviio server but no change seen.

I am attaching the log and a txt file of netstat -a to show the port status.

Any help would be appreciated.

check you have the correct port open in the windows firewall ( no its never off )

FAQ wrote:My device doesn't see Serviio

This could be caused by you having multiple IP addresses on the machine and Serviio binding to a wrong one. Insert IP address of the machine running Serviio into 'Bound IP address' field in Network Settings section in the console or pass system variable serviio.boundAddr including the IP address when starting the server.

Also make sure that TCP port 8895 and UDP 1900 are open in your firewall.

Do you have another DLNA server installed on your PC (conflict)?

Thanks for the responses.

To answer each

1) Windows firewall. I'll have to try this tonight. It is disabled but your point is good. My nromal Firewall is Comodo and I have exited from
this as I explaned before.

2) Serviio computer IP is 192.168.1.2 (bound in serviio console), TV IP is 192.168.1.20 (fixed in the Sony Network setup).

3) Regarding DNLA servers, serviio is the first I have installed. Is there anything else which may interfere with the serviio operation?
I can try stopping othe applications to see what happens (Itunes, etc).

On Sony Menu:
Home --> Network --> Server Display Settings
Home --> Network --> Server Diagnostics
Home --> Network --> Renderer : enable Renderer Function and enable Automatic Access Permission

Hi,

For SW I have windows XP Home.

I have opened TCP port 8895 in the windows firewall. No change. However from the netstat (see attachment in original email) this port was already listening.

UDP 1900 was already open for another program.

For

"Home --> Network --> Server Display Settings" I get the server cannot be recognised.

"Home --> Network --> Server Diagnostics" I get the server cannot be recognised.

"Home --> Network --> Renderer : enable Renderer Function and enable Automatic Access Permission" tihs is set.

Regards

Do you have a firewall? There are no incoming requests in the log.

Hi

UPNP Framwork uses UDP port 1900. Tried to get rid of this (switched of UPNP) in my netgear router but I cannot add an exception for serviio for UDP port 1900.

Any advice?

I do have Comdo Firewall/Antvirus Serviio is defined as trusted and I have seen no blocked access for Serviio since I have done this.

Thanks for your help.

1900 UDP should be ok, make sure TCP 8895 is open

Hi

Does anyone have any other suggestions or things to try?

Zip, when you asked about incoming requests do you have examples? Could you post a log of what I should see when serviio starts up and functions okay.

Could there be any problem with the netgear router? I have logged in and had a loo through the options but nothing lea[s out at me?

If serviio is not installed correctly, or does not start correctly (there is a wraning in the log file) is there any way to check this?

:?

Does the router have a UPNP option and is it enabled ?

Hi,

Yes the router has the UPNP option. It was enabled until I read the reply from Cerberus. At that point I disabled it but I have not seen any change.

I have now switched UPNP back on.

Can you connect the TV directly to the computer using Cat5? Or try a different router?

Have you tried to ping the TV from the computer?

Could you try with the Upnp tools (see signature link), use device spy.

Hi

To answer the 2 recent posts.

1) I have not used a Cat5 cable but I can see the TV when I ping it, also switched the TV off and pinged to be sure it timed out.

2) I followed the link and installed Device spy. I see no results in the Sink field. Tried a few times but no results.
