More trouble with MKV Playback

So I have this MKV and it gets seen on my Bravia, but when I go to play I get the dreaded "The server is Temporarily unavailable" message. Is my TV just not able to play this file?

I have added the log from ffmpeg that serviio is executing here:

  Code:
ffmpeg -i /media/data/Videos/Friday_Night_Lights/Season_01/Friday.Night.Lights.1

Just to add, I can play the file fine using Windows Media Player, although serviio is doing nothing for this as it just picks it straight off the network. Leads me to thinking the file is not corrupt.

It seems that ffmpeg could not transcode your mkv file :
[mpegts @ 0x17924e0] pts < dts in stream 0
av_interleaved_write_frame(): Invalid argument

Yes, but is there anything that can be done in the settings/options to try and make it work? I am running ubuntu server 11.04 and re-installed ffmpeg last night so it should be the latest.

Plays fine on XBMC on my PC, and all subsequent episodes have the same problem when playing through the Sony TV.

It definitely looks like an unsupported format for my TV :(

xbmc will play even the most broken files, even when all other players wont thats why it work in there and not on your sony.

Since XBMC can play this file, does anyone know if there is a way to have this play the file and broadcast it over the network to my Sony TV?

I too am unable to play any mkv file through serviio on my bravia ex503. On the x media bar, the unplayable files come up as "AVC", whereas the playable (usually avi files) come up as "MPEG2". I run ubuntu 10.04, and have had to convert the mkv files to avis with winFF - this works, although there is some pixellation and loss of audio sync from time to time.
All mkvs play absolutely beautifully on my pc through GNOME player.
Any simple fixes would be greatly appreciated :)

I am using ffmpeg version N-33299-gd7366d9

It has done the same error on 5 episodes of this series and also one episode of a completely different program (which is also MKV H264). I don't think it is a corrupt file therefore. All plays fine through XBMC and I can play other files (avi anyway) on the Bravia using serviio no probs.

I think it's related to this ffmpeg issue: http://roundup.libav.org/issue807

Sounds very similar, any idea how to apply the patch that is mentioned there?

It's a patch against quite an old version of FFmpeg source. You'd have to get FFmpeg sources from serviio download page, try applying the patch on it and then compile FFmpeg from those patched source files.

Ok thanks, sounds like a lot of hassle for no guarantees. Maybe I will try out a different server and see if I have any more success.
