Music (MP3) Files Issue

Hi.. First post here - this is all very, very new to me so please excuse any 'rookie errors'

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40CX520 which has a wired connection to my router, my PC is connected wirelessly to this same router.

I have two dedicated external hard drives with music files on all connected to my PC . The music files are sorted into year of release on these hard drives so there are folders for 2011, 2010, 2009..etc..)

My Sony TV see Serviio ok, and the two hard drives but when I go into the hard drive it only sees a couple of the folders (i.e. it only shows 2010 and 200 not 2011 ..etc...) There is no difference at all between what is in them so I don't understand this.

If it didn't show any of the folders then I would know I was doing 'something' wrong but by showing some I know I must be doing 'something' (at least partially) right!

Anyone got any ideas what might be causing this?

Can you post your serviio.log file.

It could be a permission problem.

Ok, I see a couple of problems with your setup.

1st. I would recommend when using external drives to disable automatic updates for the drive. What happens is that the drive spins down and serviio cannot see the files anymore and serviio deletes them from the database. I would force an update only when I had added or changed files.

  Code:
Removing 'Shining Through' (Q:\2009 DOWNLOADS\Shining_Through.mp3) from Library

2nd. Getting a file read error. Check the file and make sure it is valid. If it is check the permissions and make sure the user running serviio has permissions to view the file.

  Code:
Cannot read image file Q:\2009 DOWNLOADS\2009 RELEASES\AAAPROBABLE\aaaa yes\LONG DISTANCE CALLING (2009) Avoid The Light\f-LONG_DISTANCE_CA498e319e00006d90.jpg

I do not see any mentioning about any directory \2011 in the database. Make sure the correct drive information is used in the serviio console. I cannot tell from the information that you have given, but is the /2011 directory on the same HD as the \2009
