Im hoping anyone can help on this issue, ive noticed when i play mkv files on my Bravia, the volume is really low compared to playing .avi files
I thought it was the mkv itself but after testing the same mkv using other media server(ps3ms) the volume is fine.
I have to set my volume all the to 75 (out of 100) to be able to listen properly, on ps3ms i can keep at 25 and sounds fine. On Serviio volume 25 play fine on all my .avi file

Ive got my audio setting to Audio channels: Keep original
I dont want to downmix to sterio

With your Sony Bravia 52NX803, I suppose "Sony Bravia 2010" profile is selected, I suppose that mkv file is remuxed into MPEG2TS.
Could you check the detailed log file, found the ffmpeg command line used, try the same locally in a windows terminal and try to plya the resulting file natively?

Audio on MKV files will be transcoded into <targetACodec="ac3" aBitrate="384">

Then multichannels are maintained (keep original)
- Must time audio with mkv use multichannels
- Must time audio with avi use stereo

Check the Sony Home --> Sound --> settings options
- Auto Volume/Intelligent Volume/Steady Sound
- Volume Offset
Do you select speakears or external audio system?
