[SOLVED] Playing MKV files on ps3, how to?

Hello there :)

I've found out about serviio just about one day ago, and I must say, I'm really pleased about it.
There's just one problem I have with it..

I'm using serviio to stream movies to my ps3, buy .mkv files won't show up.
.avi files have been streaming great though :)

I've been looking for a solution for the .mkv files for hours now, tried all kinds of converters, without success..
Google gives mostly spyware, and just a few outdated solutions on forums.
I tried avitools, mp4yools, vlc, handbrake, and idk whatever more..
At the moment testing out my luck with video monkey. But I'm getting kinda desperate now..
Handbrake did a good job converting to mp4, but apparently this format isn't supported either..

Atm I'm trying to convert the .mkv to .avi (hopefully without quality loss)

Anyone who can help me with this? Either how to see .mkv files or a proper way to convert these .mkv files..

Thanks in advance!

ps. I'm on a mac
ps2. videos vary from 2-6gb

Could you provide some information about your mkv file? ( see signature link) with ffmpeg -i "<filepath>" and MediaInfo result in text format.

Is this all the info you need? or do you need more?
btw, I just realized some of the mkv's do work, but most don't.
(kinda hard to check, copied like 100 movies from another hdd, all avi (i suppose all working, didn't check them all though), and downloaded 10 movies myself, all in .mkv, some work, some don't..

This one I'm sure of that it isn't working. Ain't at home atm so can't test others.

EDIT; I'm running at 10.7.2 if that matters, Standard macbook pro early 2011

Kinda expensive to download 1.9gb on my mobile phone with tethering.. :)
I will keep you updated :)

soo..
I've followed the instructions which where in the site you gave me,
installed xcode, installed macports, ran the command to install mkvtoolnix..
What do i have to do now? Running those files like mkvmerge in the terminal just gives me some text..
Idk what to do xD either i am just dumb or did something wrong ^^

Edit; so umm, i downloaded mkvtoolnix from macupdates or something like that, launched it, and started muxing.. And that al in 3 minutes..
So all the instructions i followed on the other site were a waste of my time? or what am i missing? xO

Oh crap.. nvm this..
I just didn't understand the system serviio uses to display movies at my ps3, or I'm just dumb ^^
I couldn't find them in the ' movies' map (i thought they were supposed to be there, as like 100 movies were there, but like 5 weren't..)
Found them at another tab under some sub-folders..

Well, all the work for nothing, but thanks for the help anyway :)
