I assume it does as subtitles can be switched on for normal television viewing.
Or are you asking about something else?

It's something else... they must be supported by DLNA implementation, eg. srt, sub, etc

Not supported, must be transcoded like PS3 Media server do.

I tried .srt subtitles on Wild Media Server and it was ok on Sony 40EX500. TV originally does not support subtitles.
It is still not possible with Serviio. I am sure it will be done very soon.

Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series (EX4, EX5, EX6, EX7, HX7)

We those subtitles 'burned' into the video stream (basically transcoding the stream and injesting subtitles into it) or does the TV support subtitles from a separate (.srt) file? If you can change font size, colour, etc in Wild Media Server and it matches what you see on TV then the subtitles are burned in the stream.

I think its only "burned" as PS3MS, Bravia TV doesn't support from a separate file.

I cannot try it again since trial expired, but I am 100% sure that I tried with two separate files. Divx movie and .srt subtitle. There is also menu in WMS Settings called Subtitle where you can set size and color of the subtitle. Everyone from non-English area knows how subtitles are important. But I understand that this project is in progress and I really respect Zip's efforts. So far, Serviio is excellent.

Exactly, the menu where you can set font etc. - it means it burns the subtitles into the stream - otherwise the player doesn't know your installed fonts etc. It locally styles the text and burn it as bitmaps into he video.

From DLNA spec:
MPEG2TS can have 3 DLNA Transport Packets. These consist of a 188-byte ISO MPEG2 TS packet, a 192-byte packet consisting of a 188-byte ISO MPEG2 TS packet preceded by a 4-byte timestamp zero-value timestamp field, and a 192-byte packet consisting of a 188-byte ISO MPEG2 TS packet preceded by a 4-byte valid timestamp.

At the moment Serviio doesn't distinguish between them and serves them using the profiles provided above.

It looks like the TV is sensitive to it. It might be that the profile name is really not too important as long as the mime type is correct. Can you post ffmpeg -i on two files, one that works with video/mpeg and one that wotks with video/vnd.dlna.mpeg-tts?

Hi Zip,

I've got two files:

TZ7_BDAV-AVC-HL4.0-1280x720-25fps-AC3-192Kbps-48KHz-Stereo.m2ts comes from my Panasonic TZ7 Cam.corder
  Code:
ffmpeg.exe -i C:\Sample\BDAV\TZ7_BDAV-AVC-HL4.0-1280x720-25fps-AC3-192Kbps-48KHz-Stereo.m2ts

When I used
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/vnd.dlna.mpeg-tts" name="AVC_TS_HD_EU">AVC_TS_MP_HD_AC3</MediaFormatProfile>
TZ7 works fine, but not GIJoe movie
and with
<MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/mpeg" name="AVC_TS_HD_EU_ISO">AVC_TS_MP_HD_AC3</MediaFormatProfile>
GIJoe works fine but not TZ7

Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series (EX4, EX5, EX6, EX7, HX7)

so it looks like the transcoded stream (GIJoe) is created by ffmpeg as ISO... I wonder if there are any ffmpeg parameters to make it 'non ISO' so that we could use one mime type for all.

DLNA spec wrote:The MIME type "video/vnd.dlna.mpeg-tts" must be used for Media Format Profiles which utilize a 192-byte DLNA Transport Packet format. The MIME type "video/mpeg" must be used for Media Format Profiles which utilize the 188-byte DLNA Transport Packet format.

DLNA spec wrote:For Media Format Profiles IDs which don't contain an "_ISO" suffix, the 188 byte DLNA Transport Packet specified in this guideline will be preceded by a 32 bit timestamp making a 192 byte DLNA Transport Packet, as described in [46] for Media Format Profiles IDs which don't contain an "_ISO" suffix.

Could you try looking here: http://www.ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-doc.html

.. and adding some of the parameters into the ffmpeg command serviio usues to remux the mkv? (look for timestamp related, like -copyts ). After that try playing the video natively through Serviio (I presume if you do the same with the current ffmpeg command parameters it'll fail playing with the non-ISO format).

Illico,

does your profile play SD transcoded files? As you do not rename the format AVC_TS_MP_SD_AC3 to something like MPEG_TS_SD_50_AC3_T for your TV. Transcoding into Mpeg2TS with h264 and AC3 should result in this format.

Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series (EX4, EX5, EX6, EX7, HX7)

Anyone have a profile that would work with my Sony Bravia BDP-S570 Bluray Player?

I believe the Sony BDP-s570, 470 and 370 are all the same.

I have been having a hell of a time getting video to work with other DLNA servers.

Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series (EX4, EX5, EX6, EX7, HX7)

Hello,
I've just started using serviio and my DLNA media player with great satisfaction so far.
The only thing is that as mentioned here before my EX505 doesn't support .srt subtitles so the proposed <subs...> won't work.
I need to transcode/remux it using virtualdub/avidemux.
Is it possible to have serviio/ffmpeg remux the .srt during the transcode operation ?
thanks.

No, because ffmpeg doesn't support it ;-/ I'll try to follow and implement it if they decide to do that in future.

I'm actually not sure if that is what we need (srt mux). It's already in their repository, so anybody can build it. If someone manages to burn subs into the stream, let me know.
