Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series (EX4, EX5, EX6, EX7, HX7)

Hey

I got bravia 40ex700 and I installed servioo to mythbuntu (ubuntu with mythtv).

I have this problem that I can see the server and the shares, but not any files or subdirectories. I have tried couple of profiles from this thread but same situation.
I cannot see pictures, video or music. ..

Any ideat what could be wrong here ?

Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series (EX4, EX5, EX6, EX7, HX7)

I had the same problem: Serviio server recognized by Bravia EX710, folders shown but allegedly empty. I took a wild shot and entered the notebook IP address into the console settings, and everything worked like charm (including video!).
I still have 2 problems, though.
My provider uses DHCP so I cannot be sure that the IP address I entered will be the same next time around. I would like to find a way to leave the IP box blank
I cannot use Serviio over WiFi: the Bravia doesn't see the Serviio server
Thanks in advance

What is your provider? I have a router and setup my DHCP table to always give ny PC the same IP. Your wireless adapter has got a different IP address, you'll have to change it in the console.

Thank you. I'm in Italy and my provider is Fastweb: they assign 4 IP addresses to my household, and each PC gets their IP on a first come first served basis. If I understand you, should I provide the relevant IP to Serviio each time? That can be done; however, at my first attempt, I still couldn't go wireless.
The Fastweb modem serves as a WiFi access point as well, and it's not programmable.

I don't understand...4 IP adresses to your household ? Do you have an admin access to manage your Fastweb box? Does your box is also a router?
For me, with my french Orange provider, I use an ADSL-&-Router Box with only one IP address on WWW size (this size is not programmable).
On home local network size (manageable), I have an IP range from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.20 without DHCP server, and a DHCP range starting from 192.168.1.21 to 192.168.1.255
My box have 192.168.1.1 fix address, and all my devices have a fix address, Printer(192.168.1.2), TV(192.168.1.3), BlueRayPlayer(192.168.1.4)....PCWire with Serviio (192.168.1.12).
If your PC use Wire-Lan and Wifi-Lan with two different IP address, on Serviio Console set the Bound IP address field with PC WireLan IP address (best bandwidth).

Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series (EX4, EX5, EX6, EX7, HX7)

Thank you.
In the past, Fastweb gave me a non WiFi modem. I had a WiFi router that worked exactly as you describe in your post. Eventually, they replaced the modem with a modem/WiFi access point combo (not a router, and it's not ADSL but fiberglass). They assign me 4 IP addresses, and each PC has a unique IP address which is projected to the company's NAT(the 4 addresses are in the form *.*.*.186 to *.*.*.189). This is the best I can come up with (sorry I'm not very technical).
I've tried what Zip suggested, and entered the WiFi IP in the box, but this doesn't change things (still the Bravia doesn't see Serviio). While wired, everything is OK: it looks like the wired and wireless part of the modem work differently. I can only change password for the WiFi settings: other options are not accessible. I could, however, disable WiFi in the modem and revive my old WiFi router, and see what happens.

Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series (EX4, EX5, EX6, EX7, HX7)

If you leave the Bound IP field empty on Serviio Console, the server take the first eth device found (that could be the Wireless Eth controller, could check on detailed serviio log file).
For HD video streaming (30Mbps max) the Wire is preferred, so set the IP of the Wire Eth Controller on console to force Serviio using it (Check in detailed log file).

I don't know what file format is accepted (neither *.txt nor *.pdf, nor *.doc). So I'm pasting the results.

hmm, so it really looks like your provided gives you IP address.... can you check what IP is Serviio binding to? (see beginning of the log after you restart the service)

Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series (EX4, EX5, EX6, EX7, HX7)

I finally succeeded. I was trying (hopelessly) to connect my wired TV to my notebook over WiFi.Then I bought an overpriced Sony WiFi USB dongle and, voila, everything works. Illogical as it may seem, it looks like the wired and wireless parts of my net work differently DLNA-wise, but wired and wireless PCs see each other and can exchange files. I didn't even need to specify a bound IP address, and left the box blank.
I had a small problem that I could easily fix: when starting to play a movie, ffmpeg would crash: I downloaded the latest version into the \lib folder and all is fine.
I'm reporting this in hope it may help someone with a similar problem.
Serviio is a great software

I run my DLNA Bravia and its bluray player on wired connections but my Serviio machine is in another room on wifi and it's ok. There must have been some other issue in your case (personal firewall in antivirus or something, or your router treating them as different zones perhaps?).

Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series (EX4, EX5, EX6, EX7, HX7)

I'm sure you're correct. Unfortunately there's no way for me to find out, as my WiFi access point/modem (supplied by my provider) cannot be programmed. I can, in fact, change channels, protection (WEP or WPA) and password: that's it. It's illogical that one wired device can't communicate to a wireless one, and this is not the case between 2 PCs. Anyhow, all's well that ends well. Thanks for your reply.

Re: [Profile] Sony Bravia 2010 series (EX4, EX5, EX6, EX7, HX7)

I've done some test, specificaly on maximum video bitrate estimation that my EX500 can reached.
I used following samples files:
MPEGTS with MPEG2 video
http://www.nextcomwireless.com/R5000/samples.htm
hbo_trailer_6k_MPEGTS-MPEG2-1920x1080-29.97fps-AC3-384Kbps-48KHz-Stereo.ts
hbo_trailer_dtc_MPEGTS-MPEG2-1280x1088-29.97fps-AC3-384Kbps-48KHz-Stereo.ts
Some MKV with AVC video
Sintel_DivXPlusHD_2Titles_6500kbps.mkv
M2TS
hd_thx_amazing_life_[AVC_HL4.1_AC3].m2ts

It seems that the maximum video bitrate supported by EX500 Bravia TV is around 15Mbps or 20Mbps

When video bitrate reached 20Mbps and beyond, some stuttering issues appears due to sony decoder firmware.
