BDP s370 does not play WMV files

I'm a Newbie, sorry if this has been answered already, I've searched honest.
I run Serviio 0.6.1 on a Sony Vaio connected wirelessly to a bt hub and onward wired to a BDP-s370 with the latest firmware.
m2ts files play perfectly as do some old mp4 files but I'm now loading my back catalogue of home video which load as .wmv files.
These show up on the player but when played either:
- fail with a corrupt file message
- view as if through a fog
- are massively pixilated.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Playback of WMV files is very flakey on these devices, even though it's supposed to be supported.

I have a BDP-S370, and WMV files play fine for me.

I have the same problem (BDP-S780).
Some WMV files are not displayed, and some are not played.

I found a workaround - I convert the WMV to DIVx. Takes a while but the resulting files are much smaller with no loss of quality and I can merge many files into one.
Serviio plays DIVx just fine. Everyone's a winner. :D

:?: Have you adjusted/edited your profiles.xml ?

@Bathfan
Thanks for the reply. But I do not want to convert.

I think there's another way, who can help?

This is a problem with the player's firmware. You'll notice the same issues playing those files via the USB port. The only way around this is to change the profile to simply transcode all WMV to mpeg2video.
