I'm unable to get Serviio to serve up h264 videos to my Sony Bravia 2009 series KDL-40W5500.

These videos are direct PAL DVD rips using Handbrake on the Normal profile - no customisations.

What occurs is the video starts, seems to play at 4x the speed, hitting occasionally frames with completely incomprehensible sound. The television then crashes.

I'd greatly appreciate any ideas or thoughts

I don't know if the log file from serviio is supposed to be any help, because it certainly doesn't look helpful in the slightest (even set to Debug).

You may have run into the "Sony Bravia TV" profile, mp4 stuttering issue; I remember seeing something similar with h264/mp4 content when ftyp was mp42.

There's a workaround in place in current "Sony Bravia TV (2009)" profile, but it only applies to h264 baseline/mp4. Come to think of it, I'm not sure what alterations the profile would need to transcode your case.

tvkdlna: your experience was stuttering, right? It's different to 4x the frame rate.

With few samples I saw something that kinda rings a bell with this. Like, video going apparently ffwd, audio stuttering.

Just got me thinking. Maybe transcoding could be worth testing. My set is also W5500 and it certainly has problems with h264+mp42 combo.

Edit: Thinking back, it was one of these ffwd'ing samples that actually crashed my set, just like above.

Fast forward behaviour describes it perfectly!

I uploaded a small sample to http://arcadia.clicked.cc/~oliver/video.zip

This should last for about 20 seconds and slowly play a sound, instead, it whizzes past in about 3 seconds. (Compare to playing on the computer)

I don't understand what's strange about these videos as they're just default Handbrake encodes. Is it because they're PAL?

I downloaded your sample and can confirm your findings. The thing looks exactly like those few mp4 samples I have; video playing seemingly ffwd and audio stuttering.

Looks like the h264+mp42 issue is not limited to mp4 container alone. I just didn't happen to have this kind of material when I investigated the issue.
