To note:

I just installed 1.01 and registered it to the PRO version for support to the author, and while I'm able to see the MKV video listed on the XMB, as soon as I try to the play it on my PS3, it tries to load then erros out stating "unsupported file type" causing the image of the video title on the XMB menu to no longer display.

Make sure you have PS3 profile selected. If yes, post detailed log, possibly FFmpeg is failing.

Hi zip,

Thank you for the prompt response.

The PS3 gets an IP via DHCP, so through DLNA serviio detects it appropriately and I do see it show up on serviio's main page with an orange dot next to it as well as the correct PS3 profile provisioned for it.

How do I go about posting the log here?

Finally, is there a preferred codec pack that I should be using? Currently I have the "Media Player Codec Pack" installed on my box which is running Win7 x64.

Thank you,
Kamika007z

To give info of a file that doesn't play, follow this - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1123
And post you results here enclosed in Code forum format.

There's no codec pack needed for Serviio, it uses the powerful FFMPEG to stream your files to your PS3. The Windows build is already packaged with this.

I'm going to split this topic.

Attach detailed log of when you play the file.

Hi zip,

Thank you. Should I keep posting on this thread?

How do I go about getting the log when I try to play it? Try to play it on the PS3 and then check the log that it automatically creates?

Please let me know.

Thank you!

Hi, i'm experiencing the same issue (blocking image) with an mkv file i'd like to play through the PS3.
However if i play it through my Toshiba Regza media player it works, which makes me think it is a transcoding issue with the PS3.
If i play other mkv files it works without issue on the PS3.

here is the ffmpeg info

Enable detailed logging (see signature link) : http://wiki.serviio.org/doku.php?id=detail_logging

To make a "clean" log file :
1- Stop serviio service
2- Delete serviio.log files
3- Restart serviio service
4- play the file.
5- post the serviio.log file
