And this:

Re: LG BD670 and MKV's

Well I converted the files to mkv H264 and everything is playing just fine on the LG BD670. Thank you for all your help.

Re: [SOLVED] LG BD670 and MKV's

Hi I am new to the board, but I'd like to understand something in regards to the solution here.

First my setup. Linux server running Serviio. I have been ripping my DVDs and BluRays to disk using MakeMKV (to allow my multiple players in my house access to my library of movies). So I have a variety of MKVs in the following basic configs:

Blu-Ray: vCodec=H264 (High), aCodec=dca
DVD: vCodec=mpeg2video, aCodec=dca
DVD: vCodec=mpeg2video, aCodec=ac3

I have ripping DVDs that have a DTS track only, since I find if I rip multiple audio tracks, the ac3 will be chosen.

I am using a modified LG BluRay config for my BD670 as follows:

  Code:
<Profile id="23" name="LG BD player" extendsProfileId="1">
      <SubtitlesMimeType>text/srt</SubtitlesMimeType>
        <MediaFormatProfiles>
            <MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/x-mkv">MATROSKA</MediaFormatProfile>
            <MediaFormatProfile mime-type="video/x-msvideo" name="">AVI</MediaFormatProfile>
        </MediaFormatProfiles>
      <Transcoding>
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="ac3">
            <Matches container="matroska" vCodec="mpeg2video" aCodec="dca" />
        </Video>
         <Video targetContainer="mpegts" targetACodec="mp3">
            <Matches container="matroska" vCodec="mpeg2video" aCodec="ac3" />
        </Video>
      </Transcoding>
   </Profile>

First off, Blu-Rays play no problem with DTS sound. Using this config, the DVDs with the ac3 audio will play with MP3 sound (2-channel) and I avoid the "Can not play this file error". For the DTS DVDs, it is sending "Dolby Digital" 2-channel (using the ac3 transcode aCodec as above). Is there anyway to get it to send a 5.1 signal? I have tried using aac and lpcm without results.

Based on the thread here, it looks like if I rewrite the MKV as MKV with H.264 and DCA (DTS) audio codec it would play as DTS?

Do I have that correct?

Thanks

Jason

Could you check on serviio console transcoding tab, don't check "Downmix to stereo", but use "keep original"

Re: [SOLVED] LG BD670 and MKV's

Thanks Ilico - I did check and it is set to "keep original".

I re-encoded the mkv using ffmpeg using a bitrate which outputs ~ the same sized file (+/- 5%) using libx264 video codec (seems a bitrate of "-b 6500K" provides this) but retaining the audio codec and I can confirm this does play in 5.1 on the player. Not ideal, but I suppose workable unless someone else doesn't have suggestions (since this thread is titled [SOLVED] should I start a new one for this discussion?)

Yes, you can create another topic with your specific problem.
