tx-p42st31b

i had a tx-p42gt20b panasonic tv, steamed from laptop wireless to wireless router behind tv, cable from wireless router into panasonic tv all worked great .
just bought a tx-p42st31b panasonic tv, no media server in the input selection list , does this mean i cant stream in the same way as before? can i upgrade the tv software, or can i stream to tv by another means? thanks in advance.

nope should work exactly the same, but without more information on your setup i cant help much more.

what i did before was press my AV input button, bottom item on list was media server, i would click on that and i could then see items on my laptop, but new tv hasnt got media server on the list when i press the AV input button, dont think new tv has dlna, can i set it up some other way? thanks

If the tv has no dlna media support, check in the manual, then you'd need a media player box like a WDTV Live to add the missing functionality.

You listed a Comet specific model of the Panasonic so I'm assuming your in the UK. Amazon.co.uk sell them as do Argos (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9046649.htm), along with many other retailers.

It connects to your tv via a HDMI cable and it can natively play most popular file formats for audio, pictures, videos. You can connect devices via USB and play them directly on the WDTV or it can stream files from your laptop, up to you how you setup your system.

You can get other media players but WDTV is pretty good, simple to use and readily available at highstreet shops.

Look at the back of the TV and see if there is a Cat5 connection. If there is the TV might support some kind of DLNA / UPNP.

hi moltra, yes it has lan port and can be set up to a network, but there isnt an option to connect to a server like my old tv, unless i am missing something

hi moltra, the manual is for my old tv, tx-p42st31b is the new tv, it has the lan port on the back but i cant find a media server option, i dont think it supports dlna, thanks

Reviews online say it doesn't have DLNA, its not in the manual, it has networking for IPTV services in VieraCast like iPlayer

I am still wondering if it can work or not. I know that VIERA Connect allows netflix and other videos to be played. I would check on the viera connect screen on your TV for a video player and if there is one try it with serviio.

if you want seperate player your better off buying a samsung or sony Bluray player, than trying to buy something like a directv box as you will get better support and be able to play blurays
