Best way to test, is to play a video which is supported in its native format, or through USB, with multiple language sound tracks, AND at least one native subtitle track. (verify with VLC player or similar). If
while playing the video, the submenu does not show options for switching languages, or subtitles, you are out of luck.
External SRT or any other subtitles are NOT supported on my model, either because it has software for the North-American region, or because my model is the E3, and not the E30. (checked again and verified)
Voodooo has subtitles working on his set, purchased in Europe, and other differences between US and Euro versions. Not the same software version (we checked version numbers).
Subtitles are accessed through the "submenu", and ONLY while playing a video WITH a subtitle track (Note that options which appear in the submenu change depending on the circumstances, meaning, depending on what media or stream the set is playing).
So, if you have the subtitle option in the menu while playing, your set should support subtitles. If you have the option, and the set reports no subtitles found, then they may not have been included when the video was ripped/encoded from the original DVD. (Same thing applies to multiple audio tracks.)
