I have been playing with serviio for a while and have yet to be able to get it to work. I have tried both w7 and XP64 with clean installs and still get "cannot read file" from the viera DLNA interface. I dont usually post asking for help (I try to fix things myself) but I am nearing the end of my rope.

I would appreciate some assistance in getting this worked out.

How does one do that? I cannot find an option on how to import a profile. I do see where I can select a profile but thats all.

you have to manually edit the profiles.xml file in the serviio installation directory. :)

Found it and I think I did it correct. Still having the same problem. Anything AVI based, cannot read file. Anything else (like MPEG2-PS), it acts like its going to play then just sits there at 00:00 and does nothing. I stopped and restarted the server, is that's all I have to do get it to take effect?

Do I need FFmpeg? I think Ive got the right one but not exactly sure how to install it.

Ive tried each and every profile in that thread all to no avail. Just to make sure, how do I make the the server aware of the changes? I am editing the \config\profile.XML file. After making changes, I stop and start the server using the buttons on the status page. Is this the correct procedure?

No you have to stop and restart servio service
On windows you have a specific button on starting menu

So with some help, I am now able to watch MPEG videos however I am still stuck with unable to read file on AVIs. My ultimate goal is to read scene releases (AVI/DivX)

IT WORKS!! Woo Hoo. Thank you to everyone that helped (including PMs). I still have 2 issues but I think I can fix them. One is aspect ratio (stuck on 4:3) and the other is sound quality is crap (all echos and odd). I think the audio is downmixing but not sure.

Ok, it wasnt the downmix option for the audio. Only a few files have the problem but they play fine in VLC.

So here is where I stand:

Video aspect ratio is wrong. Everything is presented in 4:3, not in native 16:9 in the file or TV format. After reading the forums, I found where it was suggested to change the aspect setting but these settings are not available in DLNA mode.

Audio on some files is terrible. It sounds like the channels are mixed causing an echo and cancel effect. I think they were encoded in 5.1 as opposed to stereo.

Ive looked for a config file to modify to fix these problems but have found none. Any ideas?

It would help if you posted the actual file format data, either from ffmpeg, or using MediaInfo text output.

MediaInfo can be downloaded from here: http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en , and saved my but a few times.

When a video is displayed in the wrong aspect ratio, do you mean that the "Format" button on the remote does nothing?? At the very least, the TV should attempt to change the aspect ration on the screen. The result may still not be correct depending on what you stream to it, but SOMETHING should change when you press that button!

i know what that will be i was told the device supported DTS audio but i suspect it does but its not working correctly, as PMI has requested please provide information on the none working files.

EDIT: from the aspect ratio sense theres nothing i can do about that, but audio can be fixed.
