Panasonic TX-L42E31B subtitles

I am trying to enable subtitles on my TV but no joy so far.
I am using WInXp, Serviio 0.6.2, and the movies are either .avi or .mp4 and subtitles .srt and all put in the same folder...
Subtitles work fine on VLC player and divx plus on the pc.
Any hints?
