Playing subtitles on the Panasonic TC-L42E50

I'm wondering if there's a way to display subtitles on the E50. I've tried with both an mp4 and an mkv. I also extracted the subs and converted them to an srt and used it as an external file, but again it didn't work. The only way I've gotten it to work is when I re-encoded the file and hardsubbed the subtitles.

Hmm, I tried it out, but it still didn't seem to work. I guess it's a lost cause. I'll just have to burn in the subtitles.

No, I haven't. I'm pretty new to all of this. I think I have a basic understanding of what other profiles do, but I don't know where to change one or get a different one.

Panasonic profiles are quite similar, there were a inheritence mecanism, just want to be sure that external srt option are enabled for all panasonic profiles...
Open serviio console, on device list you can change the profile for your device.

I've tried all of the Panasonic profiles and the Generic DLNA profile. Is there one in particular that I should try, should I try all of them? None of the one's I tried have worked.

No, its seems that your model does not support external srt file...

What is your region US / UK ?

That could be fine if another members could confirm this issue.

My region is the US. Thanks anyway. It looks like will just have to hardsub unless someone else knows a solution ti this problem.

I asked, because that could be the reason why srt are not supported. For example on Sony devices, US version does not support DivX format, UK does.
I would like some experience feedback from european member with the same Panasonic E50 model, and check if srt are supported.

Hi,
Check my findings posted here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5804&p=55499#p55499 (last two posts)
Generally I was able to get external subtitles in .srt file displayed with .avi file only when I saved .srt file selecting ANSI encoding in notepad.
