23424 port

HI. I Tried to reinstall Serviio on my NAS Synology DS213J but after the confirmation of the package installation Serviio
I get the following error message " The port 23424 configured for this package is used by another service or is reserved for system usage . Disable or change the conflicting service or contact the developer to change the configuration of the package ". I tried to open the port 23424 on both the firewall nas that the router but still get the same message . how can I check and eliminate this conflict ?
Thanks a lot. Hello

Re: 23424 port

It has nothing to do with firewall - some process keeps using the port. If it runs on linux try 'netstat -lp' (I don't know Synology so you might need to goggle for a proper command), and look what is on port 23424.

Re: 23424 port

Sometimes on Synology when you uninstall and then reinstall in quick succession this can happen. Usually if it really insists, a reboot fixes it.

Re: 23424 port

Hi patters,
I use a DS213 and have installed Serviio 1.5.2.-0028
But when tying to install 0029 I got the error: Conflict with port 23423 ...
23423 (!) not 23424 -> I can't resolve the problem ?!?!
The firewall do have entry for the 23423 Consol and 23424 MediaBrowser
I wan't uninstall serviio 1.5.2 because I fear I can't install 1.6 at all and than I don't have a mediaserver now more ...
Do you have a tipp to sesolve the problem?
Or can you give me a link to a 1.5.2 spk full install to have a relapse try?
Than I can uninstall 1.5.2 and than make a new install try to version 1.6 ?
Thanks Burkhard

Re: 23424 port

Hello,
Has there been any more progress on this problem? I also cannot do the upgrade. I have no idea about logging in as root, so maybe there's an easier way.
Thank you.

Re: 23424 port

It's easy..
Download putty.exe (google it)
Open putty.exe and set your synology ip and check ssh port
Then login as user: root
Pwd: your admin password
Then copy and paste this commands:

cp -R /var/packages/Serviio/target/library /volume1/@tmp/

Uninstall Serviio 1.5.2. Install Serviio 1.6 but don't start it. Then:
Code:
rm -rf /var/packages/Serviio/target/library
mv /volume1/@tmp/library/ /var/packages/Serviio/target/

Well, that does sound easy. But unfortunately I'm a Mac user.

Re: 23424 port

Hi there,

Upon updating Serviio I get the following text:

Quote:
Serviio: Port undefined configured for this package is either used by another service for system use. Please disable or modify the conflicting service, or contact the developer to modify the package configuration.
Unquote.

I tried extra rebooting as well as the putty.exe method as discribed in previous posts.
Rebooting did not help and the putty.exe program can't find/connect to my Synology.

Totally stumped here.
Please help.

Warm regards,

Keesmod

Re: 23424 port

If you can't do the manual steps for whatever reason, the other workaround is to completely remove Serviio (you will lose your library). Reboot the NAS, and reinstall. You will then have to re-scan the whole library again.

Re: 23424 port

The Serviio package for Synology saves its data in the following locations:
/var/packages/Serviio - files relating to the way the package interacts with the OS, startup & install scripts
/var/packages/Serviio/target - the main Serviio application folder like you'd expect in C:\Program Files in Windows
/volume{X}/public/serviio/plugins - online content plugins (not cleaned up after uninstall since users are likely to want persistence)
/volume{X}/public/serviio/fonts - fonts for subtitle burning (not cleaned up after uninstall since users are likely to want persistence, but when new versions of the free deja-vu font are bundled, the old ones are removed).
/volume{X}/@tmp/Serviio - temp folder for transcoding jobs (/volume{X}/@tmp is deleted automatically every time the NAS boots)
/var/packages/Serviio_db_migration - this folder is used temporarily during package version upgrades to preserve the existing media database. If somewhow the upgrade went wrong it is possible this folder could still exist afterwards.
/usr/local/etc/services.d/Serviio.sc - the DSM firewall will leave the service definition file here. Sometimes due to what seems to be a DSM bug this will not be uninstalled properly when the package is removed. This file can be deleted to prevent the package installation error of the port already being in use.
