Serviio on DS211j. How to upgrade in the future?

Following Patters great guide I managed to install Serviio 0.51 on my DS211j with DSM 3.0 as a total linux noob.
Few questions:
How can I upgrade to future versions of Serviio (just saw 0.52)?
Can DSM be upgraded without killing the Serviio installation?
