NAS 214+ Problem with servio console

Hi

I have installed serviio 1.5.2 package on my Synology 214+ NAS without problem but following that I cannot acces the console on my PC running W7, I keep getting a message:
"Cannot connect to Serviio server, it does not seem to be running. Exiting ...."
I checked on the NAS interface and I see Serviio as running.
I guess that as a result I cannot select the right folder on the NAS.
So I am lost.
Thank you for your help.

From the lack of replies I assume the subject could have been addressed in other previous posts but to be honest I was not able to find a relevant one.

Installation on NAS DS214+ has been done correctly,
On my PC, I installed the console only.
My issue is that the console on my PC cannot be accessed.
Serviio process is running but no console window appears.
Message : Cannot connect to Serviio Server, it does n ot seem to be running.

Serviio is running as well on the NAS DS214+.

Any help is welcome.
Thanks in advance

Did you tell serviio console the IP address of the server?

You need to set up a remote console (to run the console from another PC). Unfortunately the instructions to do so have been removed from the wiki as it's not required for the version 1.6 onward of Serviio (which isn't yet supported on your NAS), so you need to search the forum. eg adopted from step 7 of viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2443:

Install Serviio console on a different machine & connect to Serviio server (Windows 7)
Download the Serviio installer for the same version of Serviio as is on your NAS and during the installation only select the console.
Go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Serviio\bin" (the default installation path, it might be different if you choose a different path during installation)
Open "ServiioConsole.exe.vmoptions" with notepad and add the following line (using the ip address of your NAS instead of 192.168.1.100 in the example below) :

    -Dserviio.remoteHost=192.168.1.100
Alternatively you can use one of the third party console replacements (ServiiDroid, WebUI, etc from the Tools area).

Also, make sure nothing is blocking access to port 23423 on your NAS.

I have released Serviio 1.6 for Synology. There's no longer a need for a separate console application (web-based console is now built-in) which should make things a lot easier.
