100% disk utilization

I have Serviio running for a couple of years.
It seems that suddenly Serviio is responsible for nearly constant 100% disk utilization.
I have a Synology NAS DS112j
DSM 6.1.3-15152 Update 3
Java 1.8.0_144-0044
Serviio 1.9
No others apps installed (except for ‘file station’ and ‘universal search’ being part of DSM).

- I removed Java and Serviio.
- Downloaded Java again (same version) from the Oracle site and installed it. No problems with disk utilization.
- installed Serviio again. At first disk utilization goes through the roof, then it calms down.
- This happens after I define one shared folder: it stays on 100% see after defining shared folder.jpg

For adding the serviio log: I can’t seem to get a connection via Telnet. So a snapshot of the last part gives an impression.

So I stopped Serviio and installed DSM media server. Not very user friendly in terms of personal settings. But it is much more stable and faster than Serviio ever was. So why is this? Is it possible to get Serviio running smooth?

you could try setting the Poller mechanism for the shared folder (in the console), rather than (the default) system file notification service.

I use manual update. The problem is that the disk is always busy, even if i'm not doing anything.
Serviio never has given me a stable connection, but I thought it to be "normal". Browsing in my folders was always time consuming. Often with fall out while searching. So I was surprised how smooth the standard Synology app works - never tried it before.
Of course I prefer Serviio, and would like to get it up and running again, but I dont' see how to go about it.
