Hi,

looks like Serviio isn't compatible with my DS418j, altough it is listed in package center community.

i followed the discription how to install it, after that it starts, and a fes seconds it stops.

Is anyone here, who got it running on the 418j?

Any help yould be highly appreciated!

best regards

Thx for your answer, but i think it's a problem with the CPU ARMv8 - Realtek RTD1293

Many other alternative media server report that it's not working bcs of the CPU.

But i will install Serviio again tomorrow and post my logfile. Here's another thread reporting the same problem

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=24139

and IIRC the logfile from my installation nearly looks same before i uninstalled

Hi,

as i mentioned before, it'S the same problem as in this thread,

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=24139

Any help hoe to solve this would be highly appreciated, the synology media server makes me bored bcs of it's slowly "conversion" which is only a thumbnail creation :x

Success on a DS218play

I also had problems installing servioo on a DS218play some weeks ago.

Did try again today.

followed the instructions in
https://pcloadletter.co.uk/2012/01/25/s ... o-package/

1) did install the Java SE Embedded package first also from the Synology Community packages
2) followed the instruction that did pop-up and docwloaded from Oracle "1.8.0_161-xxx" as instructed
3) restarted the Java SE Embedded package installation which succeded
4) installed servioo from the Synology Community packages

worked :-)

I do not need transcoding which according to the above instruction does not work on the DS218play with Realtek RTD1296 SoC

It should work if you use the correct java file as posted by Langhuse above, because the DS218j and DS218play both have very a similar ARMv8 Realtek SoC. I fixed ARMv8 support for the Java package on 22nd Feb 2018, and Serviio on the 1st March which is a bit after your post here.
Notice these two CPUs share the same Package Arch descriptor which is what my package will use to determine how to install.

So my advice would be to remove any java install files you put in the 'public' share and try once more to install the Java 8 SE Embedded package. It will fail, but it will tell you specifically which java you need to download.

If I may re awaken this post, how have you found the DS418j in terms of speed for acting as the DLNA server ?
I am looking for something to give a JBOD device, getting tired of multiple USB cables and external drives everywhere looking to consolidate.
Not so muhc look for RAID protection, the dollars to duplicate devices as backups is a bit unqieldly when so many plug in USB devices are cheap by comparison.
But interested in how your resulting media server is performing

Cheers in advance
