The only current solution is to remain on version 6.2 and not update to version 7.

However, some people are reporting that they can use "Docker" and set it up within that environment on Version 7 and it appears to "work".

I personally have not tried it so I can't speak to the results but you can read through the several threads here to see how it went.

Ah ok, so all the troubles (including what seiriostg report in the previous posts) are correlated of DSM 7.0 and not to anything else?

And also... for what you know, all the recent Synology NAS arrive with DSM 6.2 installed or DSM 7.0?

Yes, DSM 7 is the problem, been running on 6.2 for a while and 100% stable. They changed the root privilege structures for program access. Serviio relies on that to function up until they made the change in 7....now Serviio must somehow retool the whole thing to work without root privileges.....not a small task I'm guessing.

The 2nd question....my system is a DS918+, it came with 6. Since 7 is "relatively" new....I'm only "guessing" that it "should" come with 6, but anything minted recently or from them....I would bet is version 7....but don't hold me to that.

There are tutorials out there that show you how to downgrade to 6.2....I've never done it (check YouTube or Google it), but something you could review to see if it changes how you approach the hardware purchase.

This is the answer:

We purchasing a new NAS and doing the initial set up, DSM 7 will be installed.

And if i ask if i can downgrade:

"No, it is not advisible to update to a previous version of DSM"

What version of DSM is on your NAS? 6.2 or 7.01?

Hello

I'm trying to install on a DS212j, DSM 6.2 - i downloaded the package file, pointed to it on my local PC after clicking "manual install" in DSM package manager and I get this error:

"Port Undefined configured for this package is either used by another service or reserved for system use. Please disable or modify the conflicting service, or conact the developer to modify the package configration."

Is that a known issue?

Thanks in advnace!

ah - fixed.

it's when the package isn't removed properly

logged in as root:

rm -rf /var/packages/serviio
rm -rf /usr/local/etc/services.d/Serviio.sc

and go again.

Cheers!
