Build Virtual mAchIne to run Serviio is a lot of time spent to support a software that does not look like it will ever going to be fix...
I would expect Serviio to generate a solution or kill it definitively for DMS 7.0.
This way no time would wasted waiting for Serviio to generate a new version.
This is NOT a Serviio problem...…. this is a permissions problem within Synology's 7.0 architecture. This doesn't affect the windows or Linux builds and would require a fork in user permissions because Serviio can no longer run as a ROOT user on Synology. The scripts that patters created for running this on a Synology NAS literally just pulls the latest version from the website and installs it according to the Synology installer methodology.
So either Patters comes up with a way to redirect all ROOT user requests to a privileged user status or Serviio retools the entire user interface structure.....neither of these solutions are ideal...…you can thank SYNOLOGY for this mess.....end of story.
