Hello,
I just bought a NAS (D-link Model DNS-320). I am totally new to using a NAS. It's media server is not transcoding some video files for me when I play them on the PS3 media player. I would like to install Serviio on this NAS. Can one of you experts please walk me through the steps to install it on DNS-320?
I appreciate help!
Thank you!

Can someone please help and answer? I searched the forum and couldn't find the installation instructions for a D-Link in a straightforward manner. Thank you.

Hi,
I did start looking at this and it may be a goer....
see here ->
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1945&start=10The first step is getting the JRE running. but I guess it depends on which device you are streaming to and how much CPU you need.

Hi,
I managed to run serviio on my DNS-320 so if you haven't installed it already I could write a little howto.

I installed Serviio 0.6.1 following instructions on the forum. All worked well on my DNS 320 with a Samsung D series TV. I control it with ServiDroid console on my Mobile Phone. I then upgraded to Serviio 0.6.2 since resume did not work well with my Samsung TV. Upgrading was a tourture since even a simple copy / paste is hard if you are not familiar with Linux. I managed to deleted the /opt/serviio folder since I could not paste over the top of it. I replaced it with a new /opt/serviio with 0.6.2. inside. However Serviio did not start when I rebooted the NAS. Serviio 0.6.2 works well when I start it with Putty SSH client using the sh serviio.sh command. However the moment I stop the Putty SSH, then Serviio server stops too. Did I delete something too much when I deleted the original /opt/serviio directory? Or is there a new install with Debian Squeeze + Serviio 0.6.2. to solve this. :

Do you change the name of the serviio's folder ?
For understand how serviio is launching during the boot, you must have some knowledge about linux.
Please check the /boot/linuxrc file, if the line who launch serviio is correct !
