Ah, that explains it! When you do get it implemented, can you make sure the device does not go to sleep during a slideshow. Also, a transition time option in the settings page would be useful.

Thanks.

Making progress, but nothing new to report. Having to do lots of other background changes to support it.

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

And now 4.1 is ready, the main change being support for caching very large folders (previously some responses went over how much data Android could load from a database in one query). There are a few other visible changes, the rest is all under the hood stuff.

Everything should 'just work' as the changes are fairly small/on stuff I have automated tests for, so I'm going to skip a beta release, but will upload it just for beta testers for now. Assuming everything works, I'll then make it available for everyone.

  Code:
==== 4.1 ====
*Response caching now supports very large folders
*Various performance improvements to parsing responses and loading from cache
*Show a message rather than a 'Force Close' dialog whenever the app crashes (as was done prior to 4.0)
*Don't show an ActionBar subtitle when loading folders of unknown size
*Fixed some bugs on Android L preview
*Updated ListViewAnimations
*Updated build tools

Hi will. Can't remember if I imagined it or not but I thought I saw somewhere you had a version that you could side load on to a kindle? Did I imagine that or is there one that doesn't require google play.

Cheers

You should be able to sideload the version on Google Play.

While it does use Google Play Services, it will silently fall back if not available.

How do we get a copy off the play store to transfer to the kindle or do we need to copy it from a rooted device?

You don't need a rooted device, either use adb to pull the apk from your phone, or download one of my many apps that will do it for you from Google Play, e.g. 'Apk Share & Backup'.

Actually ended up going down the route of use N2A to put full android on my kindle.. fed up of the stock amazon os and now I get all the google play services features :D

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

One final question from me, how likely is it that offline viewin ticket 28 (https://bitbucket.org/willlunniss/servi ... ne-viewing) will be intergrating in to serviigo?

Any major hurdles stopping it?

EDIT: I'm also having real trouble with the music player running inside bluestacks. Everytime I select a song it crashes. Video is working okay using the internal player for medium and low qualities but not for original. (Think thats a bit rate issue)

This is all I can see in log files?

I've got a prototype working. The main hurdle is time, which I have very little of at the moment.

The release builds on Google Play contain very little logging, so I'm not surprised its blank.

I'll have to install it to work out what is wrong, the crash report doesn't really make sense, but then they have messed with parts of the platform.

I understand, time is always hard to come by these days!
Good to know that it's on it's way though. Will it just download the original file, or will it download it at the quality for that device / chosen?

Yes they have messed around with it a lot so I'm surprised any of it worked.
I have eventually found a way to remove all their crap, root it and make it run like a standard android tablet. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... 44&page=24) -- use version 0.8.11 of the offline installer

Can you think of any reason why original quality playback would not work on either Internal / External player or standard and enhanced profiles?
VLC has the best luck out of the lot - plays a few frames then video freezes.

Just thought with offline downloading it could be an iplayer offline watch style setup whilst travelling.

Original quality only, as you cannot resume transcoded videos (unless they have been fully transcoded) if the connection drops.

Just thought with offline downloading it could be an iplayer offline watch style setup whilst travelling.

The idea is that on any compatiable video, you press a download button and the video then downloads to sdcard/ServiiGo/Videos/[MOVIES|EPISODES|OTHER].

Then if you press play when a video is on the sdcard, it is played from there rather than streamed.

But I wanted to work in a way to browse the downloaded videos when offline (although you can use a file explorer at the moment).

It wouldn't even install on my desktop anymore, I'll try an older version at some point.

Well probably too high bitrate to be decoded, you could try a low res mp4 sample to try?

Re: ServiiGo (Android 3G/4G/Wifi Playback App)

New beta release is out. If you have any large folders (1K+ files) please test it out. Previously they were loaded in one go, which sometimes resulted in the app running out of memory when trying to parse the resoponse. Now they are loaded in chunks. However, you don't see any data until all chunks are loaded. In the future I want to feed the data back as it is loaded, but for now this will have to do.

It also contains some improvements for those helping out with Chromecast testing.

  Code:
==== 4.2 Beta 1 ====
*Improved loading of very large folders
*Added a button to the notification to stop the Music Player (Android 4.0+) (#88)
*Workaround a crash in the Music Player when running under BlueStacks
*Various minor bug fixes
*Updated Google Play Services to 5.0
*Updated Android Support Library to revision 20

Follow the instructions for joining the beta testing programme that are on the first post of this thread, then you will receive the update through Google Play.
