Re: Hulu (US only)

Go to http://www.hulu.com/browse/popular/tv?src=topnav then click on a show name, then click on the small rss feed icon next to full episodes. If you really want to be helpful, then you can add them to http://serviidb.com while your at it, that way the next person won't have to look them up and if they use my android app, they can then add them directly to their library without having to copy and paste links.

Re: Hulu (US only)

There is a rumor that Hulu, sooner or later, will require a cable subscription to access Hulu, even the basic service. Should this happen, would the Hulu plug in be able to be updated to allow to input a cable account ID/password to keep it working as is?

Re: Hulu (US only)

Is the Hulu plugin still working? I'm getting the following error and several different shows, many of which people said worked in prior posts. Thanks again for this wonderful application!

I apologize, but I don't understand the expired part. I just played it on my PC from the website. Is there something else involved?

Thanks again.

Re: Hulu (US only)

Is there any way to have Serviio pull the subtitles/captions from the video feeds? There's some foreign language stuff on Hulu, but the subs are soft captions rather than hardcoded.

Not at the moment, it's a planned feature though.

Re: Hulu (US only)

Hulu Recent Movies Link works!!

Hi All:

I got a SMP-N200 (SP3) and tried many servers. I must say this is the best! Also the SP3 Media Server is good.
I found that PlayOn and others would not even play a video usinh my HP MINI, Thisone can play even several streams to to devices a once!

OK here is the Hulu info. I loaded Tversity and took a look at the RSS files on my setup. I copied these and added the as RSS on the Library setup window. They all work perfect! Hulu Recent movies etc. Here they are:

http://www.hulu.com/feed/recent/videos
http://www.hulu.com/feed/recent/movies
http://www.hulu.com/feed/show/58/episodes
http://www.hulu.com/feed/show/2103/episodes
http://www.hulu.com/feed/show/2553/episodes

Enjoy!! :)

Posted below are some Hulu video sources that I have been using. Copy the address and put it in the "Source URL" field in the Serviio Console. Remember to set the "Source Type" as "Online RSS/Atom feed" for all.

Recently added movies: http://rss.hulu.com/HuluRecentlyAddedMovies?format=xml
Popular movies today: http://www.hulu.com/feed/popular/feature_film/today?cc_only=1
Popular movies this week: http://www.hulu.com/feed/popular/feature_film/this_week?cc_only=1
Popular movies this month: http://www.hulu.com/feed/popular/feature_film/this_month?cc_only=1
Most popular movies all time: http://www.hulu.com/feed/popular/feature_films/all_time?cc_only=1
Action & Adventure: http://www.hulu.com/feed/channel/Action-and-Adventure?kind=videos&sort=popular_today&type=movies
Comedy: http://www.hulu.com/feed/channel/Comedy?type=movies
Drama: http://www.hulu.com/feed/channel/Drama?type=movies
Horror & Suspense: http://www.hulu.com/feed/channel/Horror-and-Suspense?type=movies
SciFi: http://www.hulu.com/feed/channel/Science-Fiction?type=movies

There are a whole bunch more genres available on Hulu that I didn't add - you just have to replace the genre name in the address with whatever the genre name is on Hulu that you want. Also, I don't know what the "?cc_only=1" code means, but if you change the number or delete it entirely you get slightly different results (or results in a different order at least).

Enjoy!

Re: Hulu (US only)

i have added many titles and the content will disappear while the title is still on the menu
restarting the serviio service seems to bring them back, most of the time.
i just had one show dissapear totally though now, so i checked the rss feed url still the same,
went ahead and re entered it and saved and force refresh. doesn't show up still on the pc.

another question/issue my blu ray downstairs only shows the few titles from when i first tried the hulu groovy feature.
won't show the new titles i have added since then. have restarted both serviio and the bluray no go still same few titles on the menu.

i have found in the stream settings if you try to use high as quality some shows it will try to play in 720x? but says invalid file.
works fine when set to medium. could it be trying to play the hq content for subscribers and therefore makes it only work on medium content settings? i had logged out of my hulu account in the browser to make sure i didn't get any logged in urls to input in the content.
thanks.

Re: Hulu (US only)

I am still getting show updates on the old RSS format on shows such a Grimm. However, finding the RSS feeds may now be hidden unless someone can find them. I'm not good at this stuff but it looks initially after this web site change that individual shows (at least new shows or old shows you no longer remember what the RSS feed was) may have to be retrieved a different way other than an RSS feed. As an example, if you look up the show Grimm, all the available episodes are shown on the Grimm page ie: http://www.hulu.com/grimm. At this point it looks like a web resource page of other plug ins like the CBS plugin for instance.

Could it be the Hulu plug in needs to be rewritten as a web resource with the format now http://www.hulu.com/grimm, instead of an RSS feed? But because it appears the RSS feeds still work if you happen to know what they were before the change, could it be both formats need to be allowed to work? Wish I understood this stuff better.

I have got around it using the following link format
http://www.hulu.com/feed/search?fs=0&query=Grimm&sort_by=relevance&st=0&type=episode

In the guery location just replace with the show that you want to search on. Remember to put & between each word for example "Stars Earn Stripes" would read Stars&Earn&Stripes.

Re: Hulu (US only)

At least for now you can still use the old rss syntax. Just view the page source and look for a reference to "show_id". Use that number in place of the "x"
http://www.hulu.com/feed/show/x/episodes

For example:
Grimm
http://www.hulu.com/feed/show/7281/episodes

Re: Hulu (US only)

In order to find the show ID for http://www.hulu.com/feed/show/7281/episodes you will have to view the source code. In Chrome, it's a left click and view page source, then search for show_id.

first, You have to be on the page of the show you want. for example Grimm
second, left click and view page source
third, search for show_id
then write the source url with the show id. Just replace the show id for the show you want.

http://www.hulu.com/feed/show/7281/episodes

who knows how long hulu will keep this open. I hope this helps

Yep, same here. No videos listed at all. Nothing to play. Other plug-ins working (except my usual issue with Crackle stopping after 5 min or so).
