Hi,

I have noticed that the videos for CBS.com now display only 4 minutes or so on the status of the stream, though when the video plays it goes beyond the 4 minute mark. Is this a problem with the plug-in, Serviio app, or because CBS altered their website and the plug-in needs to be updated to reflect this?

It makes it difficult to fast forward through a video, especially after a network drop. It will only forward to the 4 minute mark and stop.

This is Serviio on a Sony Blu-Ray BDP-S570

Console v. 1.4.1.2
CBS.Groovy v. 7

Thanks,

Jeff

Can anyone give me a clue why CBS shows are being so hard to get to start at times? I'm using the latest CBS.groovy and a Sony Bravia KLD-48W600B. Sometimes the show starts right up, but most of the time the Media Player just spins for 15 or 20 seconds and reports "Video cannot be played". I'm using a 10MB DSL connection that normally tests from 9.5MB to 10.1MB.

I have seen some oddness in the last few days, where the speedtest.net needle, at times bounces between 5.5MB to 10MB during the test, giving an overall average around 9MB. Could this just be too slow? When I do get a show to start however, it streams just fine forever. Is there anything I could possibly do to the Sony Profile to make it try longer before giving-up with "Video cannot be played"?

If it's any help, I powered up this morning and attempted to start a "Criminal Minds" (Video cannot be played). Then I successfully started a "Democracy Now" from http://www.democracynow.org/podcast-video.xml

The log file from this morning's test is attached.

I have no idea where that unknown device at 192.168.1.127 (THIS MACHINE) came from but the attached log snippet should be easier to read. I first tried CBS Criminal Minds unsuccessfully. Then played a minute of a Youtube channel. And then tried CBS again unsuccessfully (Video file cannot be played). Anyone have an idea?

Anyone know what happened to CBS shows? URLs like http://www.cbs.com/shows/ncis/video/ look the same as before, from the browser. But, now show as "NO ITEMS TO DISPLAY" since Saturday.

No-one has any idea what's the matter with any of the following URLs?? They all work in the browser and play any of the newest 5 shows. Serviio gets "No items to display".
http://www.cbs.com/shows/ncis/video/
http://www.cbs.com/shows/ncis-new-orleans/video/
http://www.cbs.com/shows/criminal_minds/video/
http://www.cbs.com/shows/hawaii_five_0/video/
http://www.cbs.com/shows/blue_bloods/video/
http://www.cbs.com/shows/cbs_evening_news/video/

These 2 seem to display episodes from 2015 rather the the newest as on the computer.
http://www.cbs.com/shows/madam-secretary/video/
http://www.cbs.com/shows/the_good_wife/video/

Or should I just delete the CBS plugin?

I have the same issue.. About to dump my Serviio pro and get something else. This is ridiculous I know its a CBS thin, not serviio. Wonder if it has to do with their paid service now?

I do not know .. May have to use the TV browser to watch what I want and then have no use for serviio.

Well yes, I'm sure it is the CBS All Access ad that's screwing up the plugin, but CBS is still offering the newest 5 episodes free. So, the only problem here is there's no-one left who can, or wants to, modify the plugin. I could never figure out how to debug these things myself.

Just FYI: Madam Secretary still works but strangely the newest episode is listed last now.

Serviio was always nice because a 1 hour show could played, without ads, in 44 minutes.

I have a Sony Bravia (Android with an Opera browser) that doesn't support "Flash", so all I Can do is plug the Windows Laptop's HDMI into the TV.

Let me know if you find a Serviio replacement that can do these "ONLINE" things.

Groan..........

It looks like CBS All Access is blocking even the free episode of NCIS. CBS trying to rake in as much cash as they can... Typical media empire move...

Ok so they screwed the plugin for CBS.. They also are delaying all forth coming episodes release on Netflix... I have put together a Media Server with HDHomerun Extend and HDHomerun DVR so I can record what I want on CBS and other over the air channels.. Only fix I an think of...
Was nice while it lasted.. But there are a lot of other Plugins that still work...
And marrying HDHomerun Extend/DVR and Serviio makes a perfect setup!!!.. :)

Thanks Jerry

CBS still gives you the newest 5 shows fro free. You just have to do one more click. Why can't the plugin be updated by someone who knows how?

Yeah, the DVR is nice so long as the local CBS station doesn't preempt a show for one reason or another, or delay it for the conclusion of a game, or breaking local news, or weather washes out the signal. The only solution is to get the laptop, plug the HDMI into the TV, and brows to CBS.COM. Really too bad no-one cares why some programs work with SERVIIO and others don't.

If there are users who want to watch tv shows then go for watchseriesonline. This website works fine for me. List all websites to watch TV shows and movies.

Plugin has worked fine since 2013. I only have empty folders now. Is it broken or something else. Anyone else having this problem. I'm a new member, so I hope this is posted in the right place.

CBS started prompting you to join "CBS All Access" over a year ago. Even though they give the last 5 shows with no questions asked, Serviio broke for most of them. About 3 that I watch, worked until about three weeks ago. Now they're all gone. Evidently the plugin author has gone, and I sure don't speak groovy.

Bitgid wrote:What kind of antenna do you use for it? Does this matter really? Maybe good antenna brings addition impact there. Worth pick good and quality antenna from this list?

The antenna you need is completely dependent on your location compared to the TV transmitter location. You can determine the distance and bearing of your local TV stations using a number of web sites. https://antennaweb.org/ is a good site. It lets you enter your exact address, and mark if your antenna is higher than normal. It gives an easy to read map with direction and distance to each transmitter, along with the recommended level of antenna to receive each channel.
