PLEASE EXPLAIN "COMPONENTS" TO SEE IVIEW

I would appreciate if someone could explain the hardware/software components needed to view ABC iView using Serviio. I am successfully seeing Images and hearing Music on my TV but do not understand how to use the Internet for video streaming or other downloads.

My set-up is:

1. PC with Windows XP Pro
2. D-Link 802.11g wireless router
3. D-Link DSM 320 Media Player
4 Sony Bravia KDL32EX520 "smart' TV.

I note a request in this forum for Plug-ins for Australian TV access. Is a plug-in my only missing link for the iView issue? Do I just put in URLs in to the Online library list for other Internet access?

Thanks in anticipation,
Ian

hi, is the site you mean ? http://www.abc.net.au/tv/iview/feeds.htm if it is i cant find any feeds that contain any video, if this site where to work my guess is it would require a plugin, but even with a plugin you still have to add the feed url to the library, and as i have said i cant find any feeds containing video

( some one please correct me if i am wrong :D )

Hi Martyn,

The URL I put in is one of a number of options I took from the iView site; in this case it apparently looks for "Recent" additions to iView. Beyond this, I don't know what I'm talking about!

I can see that there are videos in the linked page but the format of the page will need a groovy. Unfortunately you can only get these videos if your ip is in "down under".

See "Watch program" after clicking one of the links like http://www.abc.net.au/iview/#/program/843551 on your PC, and "View Source" in your browser to see the page is not default rss format (No file url in >media:content tag) and only an html page in <link> which will need to be scraped to get the video file url.

Sorry, but I'm not a Gen y. What does "scraped" mean in this context please?

You will need a plugin for these.

Thanks Petr,

When do you expect to have a plug-in for Australian ABC iView?

It's hard for me to develop this as I'm not in your country and don't have access to the videos. Maybe someone from there might give it a go.

I've tried and tried but have failed miserably to get this working, but did manage to find the rtmp for a program from the ABC iView service if it helps.

From the RSS feed http://tviview.abc.net.au/iview/rss/recent.xml the url for Rastamouse is http://www.abc.net.au/iview/#/view/873203 which gives the following rtmpdump:

rtmpdump -r "rtmp://cp53909.edgefcs.net/ondemand?auth=daEb5aOcPagbMb4dad3aAcSchcAaXcxbccZ-bpeqN8-8-qkl_sExoN&aifp=v001" -a "ondemand?auth=daEb5aOcPagbMb4dad3aAcSchcAaXcxbccZ-bpeqN8-8-qkl_sExoN&aifp=v001" -f "WIN 11,1,102,55" -W "http://www.abc.net.au/iview/images/iview.jpg" -p "http://www.abc.net.au/iview/#/program/873203" -C B:0 -y "mp4:flash/playback/_definst_/kids/rastamouse_11_01_30" -o rastamouse_11_01_30.flv

I've studied the Online Feed Plugin Guide and various established plugins already written, but my scripting/programming skills are way below what is required. I'm more a code manipulator than out and out programmer!

Not sure if this helps, but would like to be able to get the ABC iView service via Serviio, if I can provide any further information let me know.

Thanks.
