Re: Phillips 65PUS7502/12

As you noticed, the Philips profiles are rather old, and might not accurately function for your newer set. I have no knowledge of what Philips supports, so can't say what should work and what won't. Since the generic profile is assigned, the TV must not advertise itself as a Philips, or at least not in a way the existing Philips profiles are looking for. That's why generic is assigned.

As a test, try using the Roku 4K TV profile and see if you can get some of the unplayable files to work. Just to see.

Re: Phillips 65PUS7502/12

VLC is a great player. I'm surprised you have playback issues, as I can play my UHD rips to my Roku 4K players via Ethernet, and that's not even a gigabit connection. My rips have an average biitrate of around 80 Mbps, so it's pushing the Ethernet connection to its limits. Of course, there's more to the connection than using a Cat 6 cable. There might be other issues.

Re: Phillips 65PUS7502/12

I have a number of HDR clips from the same web site. I can play them on my Roku 4K players and my Samsung TV with no issue. I checked several of them, but could only find two that had a bit rate listed in the media info. One was only around 25 Mbps, while the other said it was 100 Mbps. Your TV most likely only has 100 Mbps connection, not gigabit. By lagging, are you referring to buffering, where the playback stops and the TV has to load more data before playback resumes? That's usually a networking issue.

Even a normal 5400 RPM SATA hard drive has a data transfer speed of a little over 100 MB/s. Note the capital B, not a small b. That's megabytes, not megabits. There's 8 bits in a byte, so your hard drive is capable of far higher speeds (over 600 Mbps easily) than the bit rate of your video.

Since you are using a TV for your player, try the Roku 4K TV profile instead of the one you did try. It allows MPEG2 passthrough, which your TV should handle. It also transcoded any audio that isn't Dolby Digital into DD, so very few TVs can handle DTS or other audio codecs.

Re: Phillips 65PUS7502/12

Hallo Again

i hope you still have paitence to help me. now i think we take one step at the time to find the problem,

Here is a link for the television.

https://www.philips.de/c-p/65PUS7502_12/7000-series-ultraflacher-4k-fernseher-powered-by-android-tvtm-mit-3-seitigem-ambilight-und-p5-perfect-picture-engine/technische-daten

We are talking about that the televison shows up at the buttom HDR Signal wenn i play the movie.
i have today check my harddrive. what do you say is my problem not there ?
and i have also make a write and read test " PLEASE SEE PICTURE"
it is only reading and writting with 130 mb/s

SEAGATE Skyhawk Surveillance 3 TB HDD »ST3000VX010«
Schnittstelle: SATA mit 6 Gbit/s
Datenübertragung: 180 (MB/s)
Garantie: 3 Jahre
Formfaktor: 3,5 Zoll

test1.jpg (73.38 KiB) Viewed 17586 times

i have also look at the router to see if we have 100 Mbit/s or 1 Gbit/s
and i have found this.

android-xxxxxxxx
LAN 2 mit 100 Mbit/s

But from my PC to router i have 1 Gbit/s

Now i have also copy the demo to the C where i have 2x SSD in Raid but i get the same symtoms.
and they have a read around 928 mb/s and write around 400mb/s, please see picture.

The movie i am testing is this, http://4kmedia.org/lg-new-york-hdr-uhd-4k-demo/

Serviio have i set to "xxx.xxx.xxx.xx Philips TV DMR Roku 4K TV"
no matter what for a demo i am trying to see i get always loading screen so around every 10 seconds, sometimes a little longer before loading,
and i am using VLC player

I have a Extern USB 3.0 harddrive and when i try to play over the televion with the USB menu, i get the same loading, but i am not sure if the
harddrive at to slow for HDR 4k.

i was now thinking to buy a SSD and put into a USB 3.0 and look if that help. or is it just that the television dont like Serviio or the renders is now there because it is to new for this software ?

Re: Phillips 65PUS7502/12

I believe you might be misunderstanding those speed tests. Notice the speed is in MB, not Mb. The capitalization makes a difference. MB is megabyte, while Mb is megabit. Even your slowest hard drive (89 MB/s) is reporting over 700 Mb/s read speed, far faster than even the highest bitrate 4K video. So even streaming speed from the external drive is enough for 4K streaming, just not more than one at a time most likely.

Now your TV may only have a 100 Mb/s connect speed, while the computer is 1 Gb/s. And that could possibly be a bottleneck with 4K material. It's possible your TV has a faster wireless connection (assuming it has wireless), especially if it supports 802.11ac.

I have that same video clip. Unfortunately it doesn't report max bitrate in the media info, so can't say how much bandwidth it takes. But being H.265, I would expect it to be around 60-70 Mbps.

Re: Phillips 65PUS7502/12

Playing files from a USB device requires the media to be in a format supported by the TV. The TV itself can't transcode video, so both the video and audio must be in a supported codec, and the container itself must be supported. That's why a DLNA server like Serviio is a better choice for playing your media. It will transcode your unplayable media, as long as it has the knowledge about what your TV supports.
