Serviio

I set up serviio on my mac and have it connected to my TV but the only files that will play are MPEG 1/2/4. I have searched many forums and found that for many others including myself that avi format will not play. Doesn't serviio transcode the files into a readable format, or this this something that cant be done. The serviio site says that it supports avi files , so I guess I'm just confused as to why they won't play. Thanks.

technically serviio supports just about every format out there.
they key to what gets transcoded for each device is the profile configuration. /config/profiles.xml

I had the same issue with my TV until I tweaked the profile.

Please post the model number of your TV, Also may be helpful to give us the error you are getting and the serviio logs.

this TV appears to be exactly the same as mine. supports the same codecs and everything.

Try using the profile I tweaked

This profile works for about 99% of the videos I have thrown at it.

Where exactly do I put those lines of code? Newbie here. Is there a config file or something?

Cannot find the config/profiles.xml. Saw another post that said it is in the Serviio.app folder which I cannot locate either. Thanks.

Here is the folder where serviio is installed by default

C:\program files\serviio\

search through your config file and find the "phillips" section and modify it as shown in my post. if your having a tough time PM me and i'll shoot you a copy of the full config file.

Actually I have a mac

hmmm haven't used the mac version. maybe just run a file search for profiles.xml?
